What is your choice for a personal defense firearm?
I prefer my slabside with a 230 gr. JHP, but if it's handy at the time, I'd likely go for the Mossberg 500 with single ought 3 inch magnums.

1. I too would prefer the Mossberg, but
my choice for daily carry is P-220 with 230 gr Hydra Shoks.

4. My favorite personal defense firearm
is a 5' naginata with a very sharp blade. Small enough to use in the house, long enough to reach across the room.

Oh, Firearm...
hm, as a younger man, I was partial to a 12ga breakopen with .0 buck or slugs. Nothing says lay down like a full ounce of solid lead.

5. Crossbow pistol...
...They'll never hear it coming, and there isn't a national registry of crossbow arrow imprints....(sounding a little freeper there ain't I?) ;-)

14. Not sounding freeper at all - to me
I take my personal freedoms very seriously. IMO, mandatory casing imprints are the equivalent of preemptive fingerprinting and DNA sampling. The idea of having all of our identifying information "just in case" is a far too Stalinesque for me. Why not just attach a Lojack to everyone at birth?

I'll wager that J. Edgar would have loved it, though. 'nuff said.

7. Up close
Either a 1911 with 185 grain Winchester Silvertips or a good load of #1 buckshot from about anything that'll shoot it.

10. Second that choice
not only a lot of stopping power, but just plain intimidating to see pointed at you. That black hole just seems so, so big.

11. If it's my CCW ...
... then it would be my Sig 239 in 9MM with Hydra Shoks.

If it's up close and personal at home, you'll probably get a 200 grain semi-wadcutter in .45 ACP 'cause that's the biggest thing I have and I only shoot it in comp.

13. Depends on the scenario...
For home defense, I've got an AK with a 75 round drum loaded with frangibles. Overpenetration isn't a problem here, and it can't be beat for controllability and capacity. For personal carry, I tend to go with the Glock 19 or CZ-75, both in 9mm.

16. M1 Garand and a Glock G17
I rotate the home defense arms about once a year. I'm working on a homebuilt 1911. Once that is proved reliable it will take the place of the Glock.

For bicycle trips in dangerous territory I carry a Sig Sauer P232 (caliber .380 or 9mm kurtz). It's a well-made, reliable pistol that fits perfectly in my bike luggage.

19. I got rid of my P99 :(
I agree ... beautiful gun, best ergonomic feel of anything I have held (and EASY takedown) ... but I needed something smaller for carry so I traded it for the Sig 239 in 9 MM.

20. AHHHHHHHH! Greg are you serious?!
Mine doesn't show up on me, unless I am wearing summer time clothing.

I never used the Sig 239, how does it compare to the Walther?

Ohh, many moons ago (probably 8 months ago), I asked to be granted access to the DU gallery...I know you have since posted that you are overwhelmed with requests, and don't have time to do security checks on everyone...I was wondering if you ever got around to screening me or not.

THanks

26. Kimber pro carry
Try one out some time, the frame is aluminium and it is extremely light. It fires a .45acp, did I mention it was light? Perfect everyday carry gun in .45acp.
At home I keep a Mossberg 500 out. I keep the good stuff in my safe.
