5. LOL @ the NRA...
Hope it didn't mess up the students foot too bad.

This is right up there with Bob Barr accidentally discharging a firearm at a political rally for his reelection.

25. Our former
Sheriff was at a County Commishioners meeting one time and he carried a little .22 revolver in his pocket when he was in plain clothes, to make a long story short, he was fiddling around with it in his pocket and it went off. Just shows even trained LEO sometimes do some pretty stupid things

9.  Why? The NRA is the leading firearms safety advocate.
Most, if not all of the firearms instructors are taught and certified by the NRA. This includes Military, Police, and Civilian instructors. The NRA has been the leader in firearms training since it's inception.

21. Because...
The nra is the barrier standing between the way things are with regards to the rights of people where firearms are concerned, and the agenda of the poster you replied to where the rights of people regarding firearms are concerned.

They must be marginalized discredited and neutralized at all costs, in that posters perception.

Put simply, they stand in his way.

12. Stupid/Careless people do stupid/careless things - even teachers too.
I would not say this isolated incident is indicitive of any trends.
Pretty ironic if you ask me - lol.

17. Like I said, these are isolated incidents.
You bring up a link from 2002? that was almost 8 yrs ago.
Your debate tactics are laughable.

22. First time I've ever heard of this happening.
I am familiar with a couple of cases of police firearms instructors shooting trainees in the chest while foolishly demonstrating force-on-force techniques with "unloaded" real guns, but this is the first negligent shooting at a CHL class that I have ever heard of in 20 years.

I do know a range safety officer who shot himself in the foot with a .22, though, but it wasn't related to a class.

The four rules of firearms safety:

(1) Always treat every gun as loaded.
(2) Never point a gun in an unsafe direction.
(3) Keep your finger off the trigger until the sights are on target and you are ready to shoot.
(4) Always be sure of your target and what is behind it.

They are somewhat redundant, but you have to violate several of them in order to accidentally shoot somebody.
