1. It's too bad we didn't have a couple of dozen Militia members
protecting us from that infamous pro-RKBA advocate, Tim McVeigh. They could have shot his ass up before he murdered those innocent children, women, and men. Bullets are cheaper than police, arrests, prosecutors, judges, juries, trials, appeals, appeals, appeals, and lethal injections.

15. Well the militia did help prevent Charles Whitman from taking
more lives than he did.

16. Not Really

Some UT students got out their deer rifles and took a few shots at the top of the tower where Whitman had been casually leaning over the ledge and shooting; he simply ducked down, shoved his various rifle barrels through the small rain spouts, and kept on killing people. All the "militia" managed to do was to put a few more potentially dangerous bullets in the air that day. Whitman was gunned down at close range in the tower by an Austin police officer, aided by a book store employee.

That's what really happened; I was in Austin at the time and I had friends who lost family to that sick sonovabitch. Not exactly a banner day for RKBA; don't pretend otherwise......

17. My condolences.
I don't believe I said Whitman's actions were exemplary of RKBA. Mass and serial murderers are definitely psychologically defective.

20. And here you show some common sense
Bullets are cheaper than police, arrests, prosecutors, judges, juries, trials, appeals, appeals, appeals, and lethal injections.

2. Pretty big attack to
justify loosing off .223's on Times Square. They travel forever, and the collateral damage?

5. presence to generate fear?
Edited on Wed Dec-31-03 08:20 AM by shaman
Agreed. We're talking over-penetration-city here. These police are here to scare the public into believing "code orange" is real and all this security keeps them safe. (self-perpetuating fear?) These guys know they can't shoot their AW's in that kind of crowd.

If terrorism does happen it will be something big (that goes boom) or something silent like a bio-toxin. The police are all for show at these large events.

6. No overpenetration
Standard rounds are either M193 or M855. Both of which fragment and are typically contained within the body. Another possible round is a 45 grain HP round which could never penetrate a body. I would guess that they are using M193 ammo, about as safe an ammo as you could get for the situation.

3. My God it looks like Saudi Arabia ,a real police state.
What has happened since Bush got in with his endless bully stuff and calling the people evil, he has brought this country to its knees.I am sure he does not know what he is doing. This is madness.

4. I think heightened security....
..during one of the biggest celebrations of the year, during which thousands and thousands of people will be in the streets, is a good idea.

I really dont see a problem with this, provided the guard is a decent shot...

7. I find it interesting that...
...it shows the magazine (ammo clips to the uninitiated) in place. The NG guys that I've seen in the airports carried M-16s with no magazines in place. Now the mags might be empty of cartridges but at least it looks like they are ready to rock and roll.

8. The Army don't let troops carry ammo in thier M-16's
unless it is in a war zone. Air force cops are the only ones that carry ammo in their m-16s all the time and a round chambered with the safety off on the M-9.

14. I think these are selective fire weapons too
semi and 3 round burst.

Although I'm sure 3 round burst is a no-no in Times Square.

12. I am in no way affiliated with Ranch Rescue
But I have run into a "coyote" with his crew while hunting near the border in Southern Arizona. He asked if he could use our cell phone.

19. Ranch Rescue
They're only doing the job that Dubya and his cheap labor conservatives won't. What's a few dead landowners in the face of Tyson and others being able to have access to a cheap pool of immigrant labor?
