Carshow Loophole
Times Square Bomb Plot SUV Recently Sold On Craigslist for Cash

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31727_162-20004018-10391695.html

"Sources tell CBS News the last registered owner of the 1993 Nissan Pathfinder - found in Times Square Saturday night - told authorities he recently sold the vehicle to a "Middle Eastern" or "Hispanic" looking man for $1,300 cash in $100 bills on Craigslist."

****************************************

This SUV was purchased without any kind of background check !!!

Without even knowing if the purchaser had a drivers license !!!

Time to close the carshow loophole.

4. Just luck.
Vehicles do not need to be tagged nor registered unless they are being driven on public property. You don't even need a license to operate them on private property.

6. Doesn't fit facts, ergo, "just luck"
It's a fact that you don't need a driver's license, nor do you need to register a vehicle nor tag it in order to use it on private property.

So it's just luck when you encounter one that has been so registered, because they need not be.

8. "facts" as according to Gorfle
which, you know, may stretch other people's definition of "facts..."

11. As according to the laws in every state in the Union.
I don't know why you think this is a stretch - you can call up the DMV for any state you like:

Automobiles are not required to be registered or tagged in order to operate them on private property, nor do you need a license. This is not a "fact according to Gorfle", this is just a plain fact.

Farmers and other rural workers do this all the time.

9. If you think that's "not bad," then you should be content with current firearm law
Under the current system, if police recover a firearm, they can identify the manufacturer/importer markings and serial number, and give them to the ATF, who can then trace the firearm from the manufacturer/importer, through the distributor and the dealer, to the first private owner, who is listed on the ATF form 4473 that the dealer has on file.

So firearms can already be traced to about the same extent as motor vehicles can.

13. This proves that nobody should be allowed to buy anything anonymously.

We need a federal database that keeps track of everything everybody buys, ever. If you make a barter purchase, 7-10. The scourge of private transfer of property needs to be lifted from the backs of the downtrodden.

It's for the children.

Edit: Crap, misspelled something.
