Residents pleased by high court decision on guns
Residents pleased by high court decision on guns

CHICAGO — Residents of a Chicago neighborhood where an 80-year-old man shot and killed a burglar who'd broken into his home are pleased the U.S. Supreme Court supports their right to own guns for self-defense.

There are a lot of folks who don't have to live in that neighborhood who support laws that protect home invaders. The people who actually live there realize that hizzzoner is clueless (they're giving him the benefit of a dubious doubt--hizzoner is a callous thug). Read the story, it's only 4 paragraphs. Daley's core of inner city true believers is starting to convert to a reality-based worldview.

1. Of course they are.
"She says it can take 30 minutes for police to respond to calls for help in her neighborhood. She says the mayor doesn't have that problem. "

Rational people realize that ultimately responsibility for their safety rests with themselves. They also know that outlawing firearms has done nothing to improve their safety as the people in the illegal narcotics industry ignore the firearm laws.

2. Rational people realize that ultimately responsibility for their safety rests with themselves.
But it's much easier to depend on someone else than to take RESPONSIBILITY for your own and your family's safety.

3. It is, but most people can see the problem.
But it's much easier to depend on someone else than to take RESPONSIBILITY for your own and your family's safety.

It is, and many people do, but it doesn't take much thought to see why that is a dangerous position to take.

5. That's a dramatization... fiction.
Things like that don't happen. The police always arrive in time to prevent attacks. The idea that criminals can actually harm good people is a paranoid right wing fantasy.

I can't be bothered refuting this nonsense. I think I'll go ride my unicorn.

4. Daley and the antis don't care about these people.
Or about the fact they must defend themselves.
