Indiana To Regulate Deer Farms
"A state committee studying fenced hunting preserves and deer farming may make its first recommendations Saturday.
The captive cervid council will also listen to comments from the public during the meeting at Fort Harrison State Park.
Captive cervids, which include deer and elk, are being raised on hundreds of farms and preserves around the state. Regulations are murky or nonexistent -- even whether captive deer are considered livestock or wild game.
The thorniest issue -- on whether or how to regulate fenced hunts -- is likely to be debated on Saturday."
