Capital Area District Library gets restraining order on open gun carriers (Lansing MI)

A temporary restraining order granted to the Capital Area District Library on Wednesday is designed to keep members of Michigan Open Carry or any associated people from bringing weapons into the library or any of its branches.

The restraining order was granted the same day an 18-year-old Lansing man attended a CADL meeting at the downtown Lansing location with a gun. Lansing police were called to the scene and determined the gun was an airsoft gun, which is like a BB gun, Lt. Noel Garcia said. The man was asked to leave and left without incident, Garcia said.

Attorney Gary Bender, who represents the library, said eight to 10 people were at the meeting at the time. Bender filed a request for a preliminary injunction in Ingham County Circuit Court on Tuesday. He said the library doesn’t fall under the definition of a local unit of government that is restricted from promulgating rules to prohibit the carry of open weapons.

“CADL has its own governing board and has the lawful authority to promulgate its own rules and regulations,” Bender said. “It’s not part of a city, township, village or county.”

8. Why? How are libraries different than any other public space in this respect?

4. Next thing dogs and newborns will be walking around open carrying guns
I mean the second amendment doesn't limit dogs from owning guns.
Hell,even plants might open carry.

The 2A, or any of the bill of rights, doesn't limit anybody anything... it's a limitation on government power.
So by default... the 2A will not *limit* kids, babies, fetuses, dogs, iguanas, people or even plants from doing anything.

7. I find it interesting that you took my post seriously.
It's hard to differentiate the genuine anti gun posters from the most idiotic fake anti gun post I could think of that included bizarre delusions. If a patient came into a psychiatrists office and made this statement the doc would include schizophrenia in the differential diagnosis.
