Prime example of what the second amendment is for
So after watching what appeared to be a peaceful revolution in Tunisia and Egypt (though the full outcomes remain to be seen), I began to wonder if perhaps the open public eye of public opinion would render citizen oppression, and thus the need for armed rebellion, obsolete.

And then I saw this video of people being gunned down by the Bahrain army:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwnUQcKXmMM&skipcontrinter=1

This, right here, is what the second amendment is for.

"the state militia shot the kids"

The national guard did that, not the "state militia".

But you knew that.

In this case gunning down innocent unarmed students

Tell me, does the 'national guard' draw it's pay from the various states, or the department of defense.

(Hint: they draw their pay and orders from a large 5 sided building.)

7. Afghans have done pretty well against them for the last 9 years.
and Iraqis have done pretty well against them for the last 7.

But that is neither here nor there.

We are talking about a few troops manning a road block in Bahrain, mowing down protesters. A few scoped hunting rifles and that road block would have been history.

Peaceful protesters mowed down by army troops.

What the fuck are they supposed to use against that? Harsh language? Fuck that noise. Put a rifle in those people's hands. Crush that kind of totalitarian injustice with the fist of an armed free people.

40. Oh, sure, no denying that
It's just that there aren't enough of them to suppress a widespread revolt; at least, not in a country the size of the United States. They may ruin some poor bastard's day in a very permanent way, but AC-130s didn't shut down the Ho Chi Minh Trail, and they haven't wiped out the Taliban.

6. Here is the other side of the story
http://theweek.com/article/index/201338/who-are-the-hutaree

. What is a Hutaree?
The group's website describes a Hutaree as a "Christian warrior." It goes on: "We believe that one day, as prophecy says, there will be an Anti-Christ. All Christians must know this and prepare... The Hutaree will one day see its enemy and meet him on the battlefield is so God wills it "
2. Why did the FBI initiate raids?
According to the indictment, the Hutaree are accused of devising a complicated plot to: 1) Kill a police officer in Michigan; 2) Exploit the subsequent funeral as an opportunity to attack other officers with IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices); 3) Retreat to "rally points" after the proposed funeral attack, and then — protected by trip-wired bombs — engage law enforcement officials in "violent standoffs."
3.What did the group hope to achieve?
According to the Associated Press, the Hutaree believed this series of attacks would touch off a larger uprising against the U.S. Government. Attorney General Eric Holder has said the Hutaree were "conspiring to levy war against the United States." It's not immediately clear how the "Antichrist" comes into the picture.

Extremist with all kinds of military type weapons, bent on making this a crazy religious country at the end of a barrel. Unintended consequences of what you wish for.

17. I suppose it would depend on the size of the drum
Edited on Sat Feb-19-11 11:42 PM by RSillsbee
Personally I went out of my way to make sure all of my issue magazines were 20 rounders because they were less akward (IMO) than the 30 rounders and made it that much easier to become one w/ the ground when being shot at.

But I have no problem w/ someone laying out the scratch for a 100 round drum if thats what they want

ETA
That said, none of this changes the fact that Remington does ,in deed, make a AR platform deer rifle

22. Your point being?
I don't care for ARs never have, never will. I like wood. If I were to go deer hunting I would choose a Winchester model 94 30/30.

That said, I you can bring home the deer w/ an AR knock yourself out. It's none of my business.

All of the old farts in my deer camp would laugh their asses off at one of those in the woods.

The opinion of a bunch of Fudds is relevant to me, how?

30. Read your post and just had to check.
The C-mag with the two offset drums(I call'em boobie mags) allows the gun to rest considerably lower to the ground than a 30-rounder. It protrudes just an inch and a half or so vertically from the mag well, so with the pistol grip, it doesn't even come into play. It some positions the drums can get in the way of your forward arm, but if you have a full-length barrel, it's not a big hassle. The weight, however...

26. Lets compare our revolution in 1776
before MLK and Gandhi.
Population of the US at that time 2.5 million. number of people killed in that revolution, 25,000.

Population of Egypt in 2011, 77 million. number of deaths in revolution, 300.

You do the math.
