Cops: Burglar shot dead by SE Side woman

A woman today shot and killed a man who Chicago police said was breaking into her South Chicago neighborhood home on the city's Southeast Side.
Police said the victim heard glass breaking at about 10 a.m. After grabbing her handgun, the woman confronted two intruders, but struck only one when she opened fire.

The wounded intruder was pronounced dead a short time later at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Police said that the wounded man was holding a tire iron and that the victim wouldn’t face any criminal charges.
One neighbor's home was broken into three times just last summer, while an elderly neighbor's home was broken into twice while she was home, the victim said. The woman said her pleas to her local elected officials had gone unanswered.

I like the trend of referring to the woman as "the victim", instead of the two low lifes that threatened her.

send their kid to gun safety class OUTSIDE of the public school. My kids don't take drivers ed at school and that is more likely to kill them than a gun. I send them to drivers ed on the weekend.
