Large capacity magazine ban debated in Connecticut

<snip>

Opponents of the bill, debated at a public hearing Wednesday before the Judiciary Committee, say the proposal is a knee-jerk reaction to the Jan. 8 shootings in Arizona that killed six and left U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords recovering from a gunshot wound to the head. A high-capacity clip was linked to the crimes.

The bill defines high-capacity magazines as holding more than 10 rounds. Several gun owners said they own weapons that came with magazines holding 13 or more bullets and it's unfair to treat them as criminals should the bill pass.

The Connecticut Police Chiefs Association supports the bill, saying it could limit a gunman's ability to kill multiple people.

Yeah, how did that work out for Cho, the Va Tech shooter.

Oh yeah, he used a 10 round magazine, reloading 17 times to fire 170 shots, killing 32 people.

3. So....
11 deaths are acceptable but 12 is not.

:sarcasm:

5. It would appear so
Except a moderately proficient gunman can reload in under 2 seconds.

4. Maybe We Should Only Allow Cheap High-Capacity Magazines from China
The Arizona shooter was tacked when the high-capacity magazine he bought at Walmart jammed on him so he couldn't shoot no mo.

6. So the high capacity magazine limited the amount of people he killed ...
rather than aided him.

That makes sense. Magazines often cause jams and the more rounds in the magazine, the higher the chance of such an occurrence.

7. When purchased my first AR15 I also bought
a number of cheap 30rd mags. They wouldn't feed worth shit. After that I made sure I only purchased quality mags. Aftermarket mags tend to jam.

8. Thanks, I'll have to contact my congresscritters and tell them to drop it.
While I'm at it, I guess I'll have to tell them I'd like to see reciprocal concealed-carry.

9. Magazine bans are for people who can't do math.
30 x 2 = 60
15 x 4 = 60
10 x 6 = 60
6 x 10 = 60

Gun control = people control = infringement on civil rights.
