Graph: Guns per 100 citizens world wide
Guns in the USA are a fact of life and there is no stopping it at this point. So the Dems need to stop wasting time fighting this issue because it costs us votes. The NRA spends millions against dems because of this issue. The criminals have guns, honest citizens deserve them also. If you are anti-gun please reply provide a realistic solution to removing guns from criminals. Thanks!

Or are you trying to say that "public employees" are something different from government employees?

With a prison sentence of life in prison.

We can start with Brady campaign members and anyone linked to it such as the Joyce foundation.

35. Distract them with a post while casing their house,
when they leave give them a puppy to play with. Break in and take their gun safe. If that doesn't work nuke em. As for paying, we will raise the money with a bake sale like the pentagon does.

6. If you find that interesting, graph the murder rates of the same countries.
You might find a few surprises (hint: some of the lower ranked countries on this graph would rank much higher on that one).

15. I did this, there was a thread about it
the 15 nations with the lowest gun ownership rate averaged to a 5 times higher murder rate. no surprise.

20. Except the USA. We have a high murder rate. And the UK has a low one. So not sure....
gun stats matter in murders.

24. The UK always had a much lower murder rate
The point is that the worksite trend shows that low gun ownership rates result in higher murder rates. The UK has one of the lowest gun ownership rate of Europe and one of the highest murder rates of Europe.

28. True, and that must be addressed. But it's not coupled to gun ownership rates.
I'd say it's more likely to be coupled to "How fucked up is your society?". That would explain places like Russia, Jamaica,

and Brazil.

12. I am from France and here's the deal
Edited on Wed Apr-20-11 10:25 PM by AzNick
France is, after Switzerland, the country with the highest gun ownership in Europe.

The Swiss are the gun nuts of Europe, no doubt, with very lax laws, similar to the US.

Finland, well, they're the Alaska of Europe. Enough said.

France has somewhat lax gun laws. Background checks are necessary. You can own a centerfire handgun in your home. No limit on rimfire. You can only buy 1000 centerfire rounds a year, which is why so many people reload over there. No limit on rimfire ammo.

In order to own more than one firearm, you need to be a member of a shooting club.

In order to own a hunting rifle, you need to have a hunting license, which you can obtain at 16. Yes, you can legally own a firearm at 16 in France, but of course a hunting rifle, and after passing a test, including wildlife, safety, and gun-related questions. Hunting rifles include not only 12 gauges but some bolt actions, and you have to use rifles adapted to your game.

Oddly enough, a 22 pellet rifle has to be registered, as a supersonic model can actually cause injury, including loss of an eye.

No wonder the gun prohibitionists are losing- they publicly contradict each other even more than the teabaggers do, which is

something of an achievement.

37. Please do not insult the religious beliefs of your fellow DUers.
Members of the Sugarman-Brady branch of the Church of Shields are wont to spontaneously emit expressions of disdain for the NRA,

much as charismatic Christians spout "Praise Jesus!" or "Hallelullah!" during services.
