One step closer to expanded castle law in MN
Edited on Sun May-08-11 09:12 AM by Oneka

"The Defense of Dwelling and Person Act of 2011 is headed for the full House and Senate.

The bill passed the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee tonight on an 8-3 vote."

http://www.gocra-mn.org/news/2011/05/stand-your-ground-passes-final-committee/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Mn-gocra+%28GOCRA+News+Feed%29&utm_content=FeedBurner

The bill will move on to the fill house and senate early this coming week.
All indications point to Governor Dayton signing this bill if it passes the House and Senate which is likely.

Text of the bill :https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bin/bldbill.php?bill=S1357.0.html&session=ls87

This law, if passed, will strengthen castle doctrine while falling short of full stand your ground, anywhere at any time.

It will also force the state or MN to fully comply with nics background information reporting.

The law will force MN into reciprocity agreements with all other states that have CCW permits. Out of state permit holders will still
be required to follow all applicable MN carry laws as if their permit was a MN permit.

All in all this looks like a very reasonable gun law.

2. Thats the
general idea,, yes.

I'd hate to be attacked by an armed criminal gun owner, and not have the tools needed to defend myself and my family.

21. Are you offering to help me provide for my personnal security?
Then I can get rid of my firearms. But I'm betting the answer is "No", your sort never volunteer for that.

27. Or just curl up on the ground and cry like a little girl
and hope that the criminal spares your life.

Is that your option?

12. One mans
legalizes murder, is another man's justifiable homicide.

How you choose to characterize me defending myself against dangerous criminals is up to you, but here in the USA we still have the right to
defend ourselves, with tools, and actions up to and including lethal force.

10. very reasonable
if you consider it reasonable that people should go through their lives with the ability to kill somebody at any time with a simple pull of a trigger.

11. we have had that ability as a people
for several hundred years. I only wish to defend myself from those who avail themselves of that ability with criminal intent.

is that really so unreasonable?

30. How long have you supported the rights of criminals?
Maybe you should start a union that criminals can join so they can fight these things and fight for better working conditions.

31. a little hyperbolic?
I don't know what the law in MN is, but giving a home invader, gangster, or a rapist a safe work environment or the ability to sue their victims for resisting is not the mark of a civilized society.

and to be honest, I really don't care how many criminals ended up dead because they invaded an occupied home in Florida.

23. You would be tracking criminals shot because they broke into occupied homes ...
without bothering to consider the fact that they were shot saved the lives of honest citizens who used firearms for legitimate self defense.

Sounds like you favor the lives of criminals and therefore consider the life of a predator as more valuable than the life of a productive citizen.

33. Every time you're posting, you can just click on the "Smilies lookup table"
You'll find it next to where it says "Message options," above where you're typing your text.

The sarcasm thing is in there.

You can just copy and paste the whole : sarcasm : command into your post.
