41 worshippers shot in Pakistan
41 worshippers shot in Pakistan

Associated Press
Tuesday March 2, 2004

Armed men opened fire on Shia Muslim worshippers during a religious procession in Quetta in south-west Pakistan today, killing at least 41 people, authorities said.

More than 150 others were injured in the attack, which prompted some Shia Muslims to riot, setting on fire a Sunni Muslim mosque, a television network office and several shops.

I wonder if the guns used would be banned under the AWB? It could happen here and probably will if these small bore WMD's aren't kept under control.

1. My guess is that
the guns used would be covered by the NFA and GCA, not to mention the FOPA. Not that people who are going to open fire on a religious procession are probably interested in following gun laws.

Small bore WMDs. That's good.

3. Almost certainly NOT covered by the AWB

People in that part of the world (most of the world, actually) use either selective-fire Kalashnikovs or bolt-action rifles. In Pakistan I would expect to see a lot of Lee Enfields and Mausers.

The firearms classified as "assault weapons" in the US would not be logical choices for military use, since they have neither the power of the larger bolt-action rifles nor the automatic fire capability of real military weapons.
