Mayors invoke terrorism for gun control argument

Anyone with even a milligram of sense or real-world knowledge could tell you that EVERYTHING that al-Amriki, a.k.a. Adam Gadahn, said in that video was a pile of horseshit. But Bloomberg and his fellow Republican cronies are going to latch onto it, KNOWING that it's a lie, in order to try and terrify some people who don't know better.

“New York City’s $340 fee for a 3-year ‘Residence Premises’ handgun license far exceeds the fee charged by any other U.S. jurisdiction for comparable licensure.” According to the Second Amendment Foundation’s Summary Judgment Motion, the Big Apple’s license fee ”amounts to a prohibitive ‘poll tax’ just to exercise a Constitutional right.” In other words, like charging African Americans to vote, hitting-up NYC gun owners for a Benjamin-per-year to own a gun upon which they’ve already paid tax (and isn’t costing the City a dime) is unconstitutional gun control legislation by another name

MEN and women. Democrats and Republicans. Doctors, lawyers, merchants and moguls. A remarkable, if relatively small, cross-section of New Yorkers legally own handguns, according to public records obtained by The New York Times.

Among the more than 37,000 people licensed to have a handgun in the city are dozens of boldface names and public figures: prominent business leaders, elected officials, celebrities, journalists, judges and lawyers.

Some expressed pride in their gun ownership, like the renowned divorce lawyer Raoul Felder, who readily posed with his .38-caliber Smith & Wesson. Others, including David Breitbart, Yetta Kurland and Walter Mack, all well-known lawyers, were irked to learn they would be included in an article based on the public records. And there were a few conflicted souls, like Alexis Stewart, co-host of “Whatever With Alexis and Jennifer” on SiriusXM radio and the Hallmark Channel.

Getting a handgun legally in New York is a two-step process. First, applicants must obtain a license, which costs $340, takes about 12 weeks to process, is good for three years and requires a background check by the New York Police Department. In addition, fingerprinting costs about $100.

Singer Marc Anthony is one of dozens of celebs, millionaires and high-profile athletes authorized to carry a concealed weapon in the city, records show.

Other big names licensed to carry a gun include actor Robert De Niro, shock jock Howard Stern and supermarket mogul John Catsimatidis. Billionaire Donald Trump and his son, Donald Jr.; celebrity lawyer David Breitbart, and artificial-heart inventor Robert Jarvik can also carry steel, police records reveal.

Mets third-baseman David Wright has a permit to keep a gun in his city penthouse. Martha Stewart's daughter, radio host Alexis Stewart, also has a permit.
