Weapons linked to controversial ATF strategy found in Valley crimes

By: Lori Jane Gliha

PHOENIX - Weapons linked to a questionable government strategy are turning up in crimes in Valley neighborhoods.

For months the ABC15 Investigators have been searching through police reports and official government documents. We’ve discovered assault weapons linked to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ controversial "Fast and Furious" case strategy have turned up at crime scenes in Glendale and Phoenix communities.

“It made no sense to us either, it was just what we were ordered to do, and every time we questioned that order there was punitive action,” Phoenix Special Agent John Dodson testified.

“I believe that these firearms will continue to turn up at crime scenes on both sides of the border for years to come,” testified Phoenix Special Agent Peter Forcelli.

ATF RESPONSE

ATF representatives denied ABC15’s open records request for documents showing other weapons connected to the Fast and Furious case that may have been involved in other crimes in the United States.

1. This whole thing just has me in shock.
That era between 1998 and 2010 should be known as the Era of Boneheaded Stupidity. Worse than the Dark Ages.

2. Where did the 1998-2010 come from?
Everything I have seen so far indicates that the "Fast and Furious" program did not start until 2009

3. It all began with the witchhunt.
Our country fell off the plane of sensibility.

7. Eh, I think it's kind of nostalgic to assume things made total sense before that.
Before 1998, we had the Gingrich revolution and the government shutdown. Before that we had Whitewater. Before that, the Reagan years. And on... There has always been a high level of stupidity in the human race. We just learn to get along with it.

6. But you've criticized the GOP for investigating these crimes. Which is it?

9. Because the ATF is currently under a Democratic Administration ...
Therefore we Democrats should be raising hell about this and insisting that it stops.

Do you blame the Democrats for getting us into the war in Iraq? Of course not. That was a Republican fuck up.

10. Rah-rah, sis-boom bah...
You shrugging lemon seems inquisitive (even if you are not). You have not supported your assertion, esp. taking into account weapons obtained through corruption/theft of Mexican military/LEO by cartels. Nor have you considered the "gun-running" from Central American, and by coastal routes.

Frankly, if you were serious about "gun running" to Mexico, you should embark on an immediate campaign to end the W.O.D., and begin a regime of regulated legal sales of (illegal) drugs in this country. The longer we wait to solve this failed social engineering policy, the greater growth we will see in the cartels as they move into all manner of illegal and legal activities which can sustain them even after the W.O.D. is ended.
