Obama aide: Gun legislation in 'near future'
Six months after the shooting in Tucson that killed six people and wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., the Obama administration has yet to move on new gun control legislation.

That could change soon.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said a special task force has been "working through these complex issues, and we expect to have some more specific announcements in the near future."

-----

"The president directed the attorney general to form working groups with key stakeholders to identify common-sense measures that would improve American safety and security while fully respecting Second Amendment rights," Carney said.

1. All six people here...
...who haven't given up on him already are over in the Gungeon, and this will put paid to them.

Might as well just put the DU servers up on Craigslist.

(Repeated post from the Gungeon, because there are lots of people who won't even go in the Gungeon...)

3. How about a national concealed-carry permit? NFA registration amnesty period for Iraq war trophies?

With appropriately strict standards for issuance, of course.

6. Maybe those groups should focus on reorganization ...
and not more laws. ATFE needs to be moved or disbanded. The parts of DOJ involved need attention too. ATFE/DOJ shows clearly that present laws work if they are not cicrumvented.

8. Another case of somebody reading WAAAY too much into a statement.
"Working groups will make recommendations" gets turned into "Gun legislation in near future." Except, we've actually had variations on this article what, three or four times?

10. Hmm, how about...
ENFORCING THE FREAKING LAWS WE ALREADY HAVE instead of adding more crap that won't get anything done except tripping up law-abiding citizens and eroding their rights further?

14. Stocking up is never a bad idea
Gun and ammunition are both durable good w/ a long shelf life. They are also very likely to be a cheap now as they ever will be. Why not stock up? Art least on ammunition
