Anyone know what kind of guns that RW Norwegian terrorist used in his shooting spree?
Honest question, not meant as flamebait.

I read that one was a shotgun, but also that he had more than one, and I haven't read what else he used.

Semi-auto pistol(s) with many large easily changeable magazines would be my guess, but that's just a guess.

Was he using full auto? An "Assault rifle"?

Links would be appreciated if you have em.

5. The European sources I read all said he had a sub machine gun and at least a pistol also,
Edited on Sat Jul-23-11 06:13 PM by gejohnston
one of the kids(15 year old survivor) said he had a sub machine gun and a shotgun. The kid said he used the machine gun at standing kids, and the shotgun on victims that were playing dead. If you are asking what makes, models, and calibers who knows. What does it matter? Personally, I don't give a rats ass about his politics, religion or lack of, or what he used. I just want to see him get the max punishment under Norwegian law. In the 70s and 80 Europe had a problem with left wing terrorists that used machine guns and car bombs. I felt the same way about them too.
Right wing "freeman" in the US, Left wing IRA in the UK or FLQ in Canada; they are all the fucking same. A left jackboot is no different the the right one.

10. That looks like something someone who dreamt about mowing down dozens would dream about
in an almost comic book way. Too bad nobody noticed earlier.

15. Nary a pistol grip in sight.
Not really an "assault rifle" at all -- it looks more like a SOCOM M1A or something of that sort.

http://www.springfield-armory.com/armory.php?model=22

It's a semi-auto battle rifle firing a heavy cartridge. He's got some kind of optic sight, two lights, a bayonet, and a monopod on it. It must weigh a ton. If this is what he used, then the news reports are wrong: by no stretch of anyone's imagination is this a submachine gun.

Full-auto weapons can be obtained with a collector's license in Norway, but are, of course, registered, and no such registration has been turned up by the reporters. If he did use a submachine gun, it would have to have been obtained illegally. There's where to start looking for the conspiracy angle.

8. "assault rifle"?
Come on! You know that battle rifles are rarely used in violent crime, right?

No need for high cap mags when everyone is disarmed and running away. The Virginia tech shooter used 10 round magazines.

14. See post #7. Shall we call that a "bad joke yet potentially dangerous rifle" instead?

9. Had 3 guns registered
Breivik is a member of the Oslo Pistol Club and has three weapons registered in his name, according to leading Norwegian newspaper VG, citing Norway's official weapons register. They are a Glock pistol, a rifle and a shotgun, VG reported.

11. Interesting
None of the European accounts I found mention it. They all mention that he had a sub machine gun, a pistol, and a shotgun.

16. If you read his 'manifesto" he mentions....
A 'mini-14' and a 'Glock 17'

The Mini 14 is what is in his pic with all that aftermarket junk hanging on it.

It is not a 'machine pistol' and quite frankly I'm amazed the media has not called it an 'AK47'

17. Thanks for that. I did not want to call it an AK-47 since clearly it isn't.
I'm not really "The Media" though, or anything like that.

They might read this thread, though
