After discussions between moderators and admin the conclusion was reached that this issue of guns in Justice and Public Safety is too divisive for this forum. As you ponder this decision please consider that nearly all potential arguments have been made and answered multiple times.

Therefore, from the time of this post forward, on the 1st day of the 2nd quarter of the Calendar Year 2004, posts of gun discussion are banned in J/PS.

Post of such will be removed, Pro Gun Control or RKBA. Reference to the Gun Dungeon or the Gungeon will be removed. More than 5 such violations by any one member will result in permanent banning.

I forgot about it this year. Seven years ago I emailed my siblings and called my mother and told them I'd decided to marry this poetry professor in North Carolina I'd met on line (whom they knew about) and I was packing up and applying for a green card. I've been reading DU for about 3.5 years, and reading J/PS for about 2 - 2.5 of those years. And I've always thought that the RKBA threads started in GD were more even-tempered, broad-based, and significantly less polarized than they became when they were inevitably shoved down to this forum.

I also noticed that certain voices were often notably absent from those threads until they were moved, at which time the tone of the thread would begin to deteriorate. But there's no way to elaborate on that without intentionally violating a DU rule. Anybody who reads the forum knows the players anyway.

I think GD is a far better forum for these discussions. Good move, mods!!!

Actually, now you probably have to go all the way out to Western Ontario by Dryden, Nestor Falls, Sioux Narrows and points West for a lot of people that drive and fly bush planes with a 30-30 as standard equipment.

Or, if all else fails, just follow the blood running in the streets uphill to the local gunnies.

I for one am ecstatic that the voice of anti-firearms folks will be squelched from this voice of our Democratic Party on the net!
