MMM comes to Raleigh

The Million Moron Marchers need to rename themselves to the dozen or so moron marchers. They recently held a rally at Raleigh, NC and an enormous crowd of "about 50" people attended...truely, these morons are the voice of America.
On to the article:

"RALEIGH -- Raleigh Police Chief Jane Perlov was among nearly 50 people at a Raleigh rally Thursday calling on President Bush to support the renewal of a federal ban on assault weapons. "

The fact that the police chief was "among" almost 50 people implies that the 50 people included the staff, the speakers...and likely their kids they forced to come with them.

What would an anti-gun circle-jerk be without a refernce to an AK-47 or Uzi both of which were outlawed long before the assualt weapons ban. When the AWB expires, neither of those guns will be legal. I guess you can't expect anti gun organizations to have a clue what they are talking about.

AK47's and UZI's were banned back in 1989. You think out of the million moms they could figure this out right? surly they can read.When the ban expires the only thing that will change is people can put folding stocks,bayonet lugs and flash hiders on their post ban rifles.

They were intelligent, well-intentioned, honestly concerned about peoples' safety, and tragically misinformed about the "assault weapons" ban. They've been spoon-fed propaganda by other misinformed people, reinforced by a lackadaisical press that's more concerned with selling advertising space than in checking facts.

MMMers respond well to kindness. Try it one-on-one with them some time. Show them the difference between a "pre-ban" weapon and the equivalent "post-ban". They may walk away thinking both species should be banned, or they just might begin to see what a sham the whole AWB issue really is.

It's up to people like us to demonstrate that their protests are entirely based on misinformation and distortion.

The thing we have to get through their heads is this: the anti-gun lobby doesn't give a shit about "assault weapons." The AWB was an important first step in their plan to incrementally ban all guns. I mean, this isn't tinfoil hat stuff...the activists themselves say it all the time!

If they can convince most people that a certain class of guns is "extra lethal," that sets a nice precedent for them a few years down the road. Is nobody else noticing the sudden use of the new nonsense term "assault pistol"? They are moving forward to Phase 2...but renewal of the AWB is crucial.
