A question for the extreme RKBA crowd
In your opinion should these kids have been packing heat while waiting at the bus stop to go home from school? Would they have been any safer?

1. No
How could you defend against this type of attack? The military can't prevent things like this in Iraq, how could someone with a sidearm defend themselves?

2. The RBKA crowd don't care about anyone but themselves.
It doesn't matter that there are a lot more urban and suburban people. It doesn't matter that the number of urban and suburban people are growing at rapid rate while rural areas are loosing population. They only care about them and their guns. That's why I number them among the sorriest people in America. A group that crowed the most about Chimpy being sElected.

25. Yeah, right
We are a sorry lot, not willing to give up our rights at the drop of a hat.
If urban areas have criminal homocide problems, they should address the issues that cause it, not the items used to carry it out. If laws regarding firearms must be enacted, why not local laws?

I suppose you are supporting Ashcroft on the patriot act right? I mean, if we give up a few little rights here and there, the terrorists will be stopped and people will live.

I am not ashamed of my support for the second ammendment. I see gun control schemes as a threat to my rights. You people hardly let the ink dry on one law before you start thinking of what to go after next.

3. I don't see how carrying a firearm would have changed the results.
I would like to know if the person(s) who committed the crime had a criminal record and if so, why weren't the laws enforced prohibiting them from possessing firearms.

5. Of course not
What a silly, insulting question.

Body armor might have helped them. Or keeping the perpetrator of the shooting in jail where he belonged.

I hereby offer my standard bet that the shooter was legally disqualified from having a gun because of a criminal record or lack of legal residency or both.

....the shooter had no problem getting his hands on a gun, thanks to the corrupt gun industry.

46. Perhaps he did not get the gun from a licensed dealer.
Perhaps the gun was stolen. We certainly need more facts before we can make a call on how the shooter got the gun.

7. Are there any "extremists" here?
I don't there that there are. It's unlikely that there are any "personal ownership of everything up to nuclear weapons" kind of people here. Now, if by extremist you mean anyone who believes in more right to own weapons than you do, well okay then.

When my mother and uncle were going to school, children brought firearms to school all the time. They were either on the shooting team, or they liked to shoot vermin on the way to school. Weapons were simply locked up in the principal's office until the end of the day. No one gave it a second though.

I believe the difference is much changed environment today, the capacity of violence in today's youth which has evolved. The firearms themselves aren't really all that different.

The RKBA crowd hereabouts attacks every Democrat you've ever heard of and was advocating guns for the blind just last week.

"When my mother and uncle were going to school, children brought firearms to school all the time."
Gun nuts spout this all the time....I grew up in rural Maryland in the 1950s and don't recall any such thing.

By you're standards I'm a knucle-dragging gunloon extremist. Have I attacked Democrats?

Gun nuts spout this (particular lie -LC) all the time.... I grew up in rural Maryland in the 1950s and don't recall any such thing.

Just because this didn't happen in Maryland doesn't mean that it didn't other states. Does that make me a liar?

It seems you're implying here that people who don't support gun control have faulty memories on this topic. I think it's clear that you're denying that this ever happened. I think it's fair to say that different states were different, towns were different. Children did hunt on the way to school during the bad old days. I know my uncle and grandfather did, but I am not saying everybody did and I know my mother didn't. I am certianly aware that mores and attitudes change. Shooting clubs are rare now, when they weren't before.

Australia and Britain are suffering bloodbaths because they have no guns?

1,000 gun deaths a year in Michigan is "zero trouble"?

Assault rifles back on the streets?

The DNC platform is anti-RKBA venom?

Those seem pretty extreme right there...

44. This is a lie..never happened.
Shooting people with a gun is against the law. There is no way this could have happened in California. They have some of the strictest gun laws in the country.

I wonder if the shooters owned the guns legally, or were they stolen/illegally acquired?
