what is the main thing about kerry that you find admirable?
for me, its a tie between his legislative experience, and his environmental record.

2. Since I really now appreciate how much law school teaches...
about our governmental system, I most appreciate his doctorate in law, together with his 30 years of public policy experience, including his legislative experience.

Kerry understands, unlike Rethuglicans, the role of judiciary, and how it essentially exists to protect the fundamental rights of the minority ... and that case law is just as much law as legislation or executive policy (unlike the Religious Right foot soldiers).

3. I like that when push comes to shove - he is a very capable fighter
He knows when to peak and when to lay low - even if it drove us crazy. Some may have been bad advice too.

4. I find his courage during the Viet Nam years
first in serving when he didn't have to, and then speaking out on his return, extremely admirable.

Obviously I also like his record of standing up to the corrupt gun industry, and his record on public education.

He also did yeoman work untangling Iran/Contra...

5. His Commitment to Service
which comes from his father's service in the State Dept. It is genuine commitment.

I also really like the way he connects with children - you can't fool children. They beam when they see him - and he beams too.

bitching about a thread in praise of our nominee, for whatever bizarre reason.

As for figuring it out, I know you didn't fool me, and I doubt you been fooling anyone.

What am I fooling anyone about?

Inquiring minds want to know.

IM me if you wish,

Whatever...

31. That you have this perception....
that it's (the Internet), meaningful or relevant in the court of public opinion. It's fun and amusing. A place to rant, rave and exchange opinions ideas and meet people.

If you're really that anti-gun, then fine. I don't agree with your opinion but I certainly defend your right to express that opinion.

Myself, I actually take an active role in pushing for (or against anti-gun), RKBA legislation. I don't just blow off steam or preach about it here. I have serious doubts that any of the anti-rkba people here are equally involved.

You don't like what's being posted here (or not being posted here), fine.

What really counts is how active a role a person takes.

That's why any gun control legislation is going to be a tough battle.

Try to understand it.

Ohhh, and FWIW; the reason I have no profile showing is that it's the kind of thing that I really couldn't be bothered with.

18. Marvelous hair.
All kidding aside, I scoffed at joining a fraternity for just the same close minded "you're either with us or against us" unquestionable mentality.

What else do you want to know?

Ohh, BTW... I'm a MA firefighter, and Kerry is my rep in the Senate. As such, I stand a lot to gain if he gets elected.

Doesn't mean I can't disagree with him on one tiny issue.

plus, I think he'll get us back up with the rest of the world on environmental issues. Then there is his pro-choice pro-union stance, I doth like that too...

need I go on?

This OUGHT to be a bloody damn easy question to answer, I bet if you posted it on any other forum it would fill up mighty quick. I guess SOME people only care about ONE or two issues, or forget who where supposed to be rooting for here.

Homey emails his legislators.

Homey has visited his legislators.

Homey votes.

Homey also owns assault weapons.

30. And an RKBAer still can't actually answer the question!
I bet the legislators don't brag about getting visits from an out of touch RKBAer acting out an ancient Wayans brothers routine in an unamusing fashion, either.

33. I lean toward the education ideas...
...especially the college tuition tax break. It's a bit late for me, but I remember how helpful Clinton's learning credit was earlier in my school career...

And in second place I would say the environmental positions - I hope Lunabush will forgive a reference to that much-discussed Outdoor Life interview, but I liked most of Kerry's environmental responses in that article...

The idea of energy independence (providing it is heavy on conservation) is probably in third place...

When backed into a corner some folks will never do what is asked, whether it be their contrary nature or their political stance. Its the place of the moderators and Admin to figure which is which.

Its not fair for us to have a "loyalty oath" It is reasonable, on this board called DEMOCRATIC Underground, to ask that this close to the election participants refrain from the constant nit-picking of our candidate. That is all I ask.

Repeating a post from last night - Its well past time that folks get on the Gungeon train for Kerry or leave their leanings at the log-in. If ya wanna complain about him and ridicule him and his stance on guns, do it elsewhere. This ain't the place.
