Assault weapons ban looking VERY dead right now
Repubs will keep the House.

Kerry wins the WH.

Senate too close.

1. I am not a hug fan of the AWB.
It does not work it is too watered down, all it does is give the GOP a huge talking point. It would be worth it if it actually worked but since it doesn't do not put it back in.

2. Under Clinton gun control got stymied
after 1994.

Pretty much anything that can be done, Clinton did.

3. Not watered down - Fundamentally flawed in principle
The regulations on fully automatic weapons (i.e. National Firearms Act) make some logical sense because they have significant and historically proven potential for abuse. Not so for semiautomatics.

4. Do you support the 1986 ban then?
There was no reason for it!

7. Agreed, it was not needed
NFA '34 works fine, and the right to own an NFA weapon should be uniform across the states.

5. Doesnt matter
Feinstein and Schumer will never rest and they will find a way to garner support for it. The senate will probably stay R, but either way it will be a very thin majority and votes can be bartered.

There are house R's that will most certainly support a renewed AWB. It wont take much to push it through.

8. Not to piss in anyone's cornflakes, but
although I'm not giving up hope, but it appears as though we're likely to get another * WH. There is only one good thing that can possibly come of that and that one thing is no new AWB of any sort. That's a miniscule consolation in the big picture.

9. AWB being dead is good.
If Dems ever pass one again, we'll get our asses handed to us, just like 1994.

11. Very hard to say
Taking a hard-line position against personal choice almost always loses, OTOH so does pandering to one group or another's notion of what kinds of personal choices matter most.

18. oh, I dunno
Taking a hard-line position against personal choice almost always loses, OTOH so does pandering to one group or another's notion of what kinds of personal choices matter most.

Both tactics seem to have worked pretty well for the party/candidates proposing to deny reproductive choice and marital choice. Just for starters.

I wonder whether the fact that 50%+ of the voting US population is plainly just too stupid and/or too vicious to be recognized as 21st century human beings might have something to do with anything.

Of course, we're all products of our environment to some extent or other ...

12. You all must be very happy
Your precious chimp will protect your right to possess these weapons of war for "FOUR MORE YEARS."

I'm sure he appreciates all the Dem bashing that goes on down here.

So sad that you all don't see what you traded for this.

13. I'm a gun owner and I didn't vote for that smug chimp asshole
At least until Diebold "processed" my vote. Gun control was a non-factor in how I voted. Straight dem ticket.

14. You must be happy
You must be happy that the gun control rhetoric spewed down here daily probably cost us at least one state. It surely influenced the popular vote.

You can be proud. You sacrificed everything for a half assed attempt at taking grandpa's shot gun cuz it scares you!
