Are all the NRA members this irresponsible?

I mean, look at that guy will ya? He's pointing a gun, with his finger on the trigger, and he's not even looking where he's pointing the gun! Isn't that the height of irresponsibility? I thought the NRA was all for gun safety? Weren't they the ones who told us this was unforgivably irresponsible behavior?
Oh yeah, he's not wearing safety glasses, or ear protection either.
We really need a group to promote gun safety, that actually promotes gun safety, instead of just promoting Republican politics.

1. No, their not. In fact there are members who are working to get...
back control of the NRA. It's hard work because no one will listen to them. Maybe it's time for them to get in touch with AAR.

12. No slight intended Duck
it's just that I feel every single member of the NRA should resign their membership, unless they are Republicans. That's because I feel that the NRA is a branch of the Republican party, with little actual interest in gun issues.
I would love to hear of more NRA members speaking out against the right wing leadership of their group.
What is the AAR?

3. Ignorance
1. We can't tell where he's pointing the gun, since it's off-camera. I assume he's pointing it down range. Looking to his left slightly doesn't change that.

2. He appears to be wearing orange earplugs.

3. He should be wearing eye protection--but, hey, it's a revolver, it won't be spitting cartridge casings at him.

4. The NRA-PVF (the PAC) endorses pro-gun Democrats when they can find them (e.g., the newly-elected, NRA-endorsed Democratic governor of West Virginia). The NRA itself (not a PAC) is non-partisan and non-political.

4. Hey, you're right! He IS wearing ear protection
But Dear God, you're absolutely right! We can't tell where he's pointing that gun, and neither can he, since he's looking in a different direction.

but what about this irresponsible guy?

Oh sure he's wearing hearing protection, but where's the eye protection?

And what about this guy?

Will these NRA nuts EVER learn to operate a firearm in a responsible manner? What other things have these people been entrusted with, which they are handling irresponsibly?

"The NRA itself is nonpartisan". Now THAT'S hilarious!

7. How does not wearing eye protection equate to irresponsible?
I'm not following the logic, unless you mean every PD in the US is irresponsible...

13. It was a dig at the NRA dww, and their nut membership
they posted a photo of Kerry doing this, and claimed that the photo proved that he was too irresponsible to be President. Then they posted photos of Kerry shooting without eye protection, and declared that they also proved that he was too irresponsible to be President.
I just like to point out that the NRA uses two completely different standards when judging the actions of Democrats and Republicans.
You haven't heard any NRA members criticize this guy, nor have you heard any of them criticize Bush for shooting without eye protection.
It's all just a part of my campaign to point out that the NRA is a two-faced Republican organization.
I realize that it's completely redundant to point out that the NRA is made up of Republicans, but there are just do doggoned many of them that try to deny the obvious truth, and I know how much it pisses them off when I call them on it.

11. Hey lefty....
I'd be careful about this....there are plenty of pics of Kerry out there doing the same thing without eye protection...

These things are photo-ops.

Just as the NRA does not represent all gun rights advocates.

10. what's that shadow in front of him and to his right?
Edited on Fri Nov-12-04 01:19 AM by NorthernSpy
I know the shadow looks kind of elongated, but depending on the angle of the sun, I suppose it could be the shadow of a person*. In which case, keeping his finger on the trigger like that -- and looking away from where his gun is pointing -- doesn't seem especially safe.

I believe that accidents tend to start this way.

*Comparing it to the also elongated-looking shadow that appears next to the feet of the guy who's wearing sunglasses.

I don't know whether the foreground shadow is from another person, but it doesn't seem impossible.

15. To me, the shadow looks like a sailboat mast. The guy sure seems to be on
the beach, and pointing his gun towards the boat, and it's occupants. I sure hope this guy isn't one of the NRA's gun safety instructors, or Eddie the Eagle volunteers.

belonged to?
