Hamas: Negotiations a waste of time
Edited on Sat Oct-22-05 05:32 PM by bemildred
Edit: I put this up because one rarely gets to hear a Hamas
big shot in his own words, at least in the English press.

Born in al-Zaitun district in Gaza City in 1945, al-Zahar graduated with a master's degree in general surgery from Ein Shams University in 1971 and went on to help establish the resistance movement in 1988.

In 1992, Israeli forces expelled al-Zahar and dozens of other Hamas activists, who went into exile in Lebanon.

On 10 September 2003, an Israeli air strike on his home killed his wife and severely injured his daughter. He survived with a leg wound.

Al-Zahar says he is committed to resisting Israeli occupation through military means, but he also believes Hamas has a strong role to play in the Palestinian political process.

3. You started this thread. Too bad if you don't like the response.
As for Hamas, all I'm saying is, take them at their word.

6. kill -6 `ps -ao pid,command | grep Likud | perl -ane 'print $F[0]'`
That should do the job.

I suppose to satisfy Jimbo we could also do:

kill -6 `ps -ao pid,command | grep Hamas | perl -ane 'print $F<0>'`

7. Hamas is a terror org, Likud is a political party.
Most Democrats (or democrats for that matter) don't support killing of political parties.

8. I'm not really suggesting that Likud should be destroyed.

If you suggest that Hamas, who as well as being a paramilitary
organisation, are a political party, should be destroyed, then
why not Likud? You advocated the destruction of a political party-
why not Likud? They're partially corrupt, they make decisions that
result in the deaths of an occupied civilian populace, in the full
knowledge that the decisions made will result in the death of
innocents, they partially ignore the laws of the state, &tc. Do you
see where I'm going with this? I'm not advocating the destruction
of any political party, but one can easily make such a case.

12. Hamas, by trumpeting their "Negotiations are futile" line, are turning
their backs on conventional politics.
