IDF blows up car bomb after tip off from PA security forces

The Israel Defense Forces on Thursday said a car bomb was found on a tunnel road leading from Jerusalem to the West Bank, and that sappers neutralized the explosives during early evening.

Palestinian security officials tipped the Israelis off to the car after it raised their suspicions, Palestinian and Israeli officials said.

Lt. Col. Eliezer Toledano, an IDF commander in the area, said four gas canisters, flammable liquids and tires were found inside the car. He said the car stopped when it hit a wall of boulders along the road.

The alert snarled traffic at a main entrance to Bethlehem, on the outskirts of Jerusalem, and shut down main roads leading out of the town and into the West Bank.
