Poll of Americans show Israel among top U.S. allies
- An annual Harris Interactive poll shows that Israel is among the United States' leading allies, according to Americans. Every year, Harris Interactive asks a nationwide cross section of American adults how they feel about a list of countries with a scale varying from "close ally" at one end to "unfriendly" at the other. In this year's survey, Great Britain, Canada and Australia continue to lead the list as our closest allies, followed by Israel and Mexico. Israel also ranked 4th in the poll last year. The survey polled 1,011 adults by telephone between August 12 and 17, 2003.

The poll didn't show anything of the sort. Then again, if coming #4 in some poll means unwavering support, then spots #1-3 maybe means total unquestioning unwavering support? If so, I wonder where the billions of $$$ in aid is for The Top 3?

Here, we think Canadians are slow but make good beer, that England is a darling parlor antique, and (forgive me) Australians frolic with kangaroos anf crocodiles. This thing seems more to test whether English is widely spoken in a place than anything: New Zealand is barely suspected to exist....

99% of the American citizens want to reduce aid to Israel and the politicians follow the 1% who think it should be increased.

another example of how American opinion is disregarded by the elite policy planners who have their own imperialist agendas. I still think they do everything in their power to at least shape American views into something that at least closely approximates justification for their war plans.

13. The poll doesn't look like it's up on the site yet...
But in the meantime feast yr eyes on previous polls. One of my faves is "Most People Believe Iraq Had Weapons of Mass Destruction, Was Supporting Al Qaeda and that U.S. Statements about Them before War Were Not Exaggerated or Misleading". And apart from finding out we're considered to be ally #3, therefore according to Herschel a recipient of unwavering support, we also top the list 7 years in a row as favourite vacation country if cost wasn't an issue...

5. I fear that killing Arafat
will change a lot of people's minds about Israel. It is an intemperate and dangerous thing to do.

6. Not that killing Arafat is a smart idea....
But why would Americans have any more feeling for Arafat than for all the innocent Palestinians that Israel has killed?

He's still more popular with Americans than Sharon is though.

11. I screwed up..
I read it wrong the first time, currently Sharon is 60% negative and Arafat is 82%
