Why is Israel condemned?
First, note that I am a progressive. I'm new but not some stupid disrupter. I'm actually articulate. :) Please be rational and correct me if I'm mistaken. I don't intentionally mean to offend anyone. Now, after the announcements, here is the feature presentation...

I'm sorry if I'm overgeneralizing. It's just that everywhere I've seen, the Repubs support Israel and the Democrats support the Palestians. But the Israelis are the more liberal and free by far. I came here to DU to clarify exactly why so many democrats dislike Israel. Most of my fellow students are stupid and don't care about politics or are just mouthpieces for their parents. The Israelis allow free speech, have a strong supreme court that has no qualms challenging the military, have dramatically increased the quality of life (okay, not quite as much for the arabs but we're worse), are actively seeking peace, and most importantly, are not controlled by a state religion.

The Palestinians have been always been ultra conservative. Even moreso than Pat Robertson. They have a very strong state religion. They are very cruel to women, homosexuals, and many other disadvantaged groups. Even when offered fairly decent deals, by Clinton himself, they refused. They wanted to continue killing the Israelis. They even elected an openly terrorist group. I mean, we elected Bush. That's bad, but not as bad as if Bush had been the KKK leader. So why do we support the ultra-conservative, pro-war people and demonize the liberal, generally peace loving Isralis?

The Israelis are better than us (not saying much though). Possibly could you support the Palestinians because they're the underdogs? I support underdogs generally but only if they're decent, liberty-loving, people. Again, I'm not accusing, just asking for clarification. Any help would be much appreciated.
