kidnapping or arrests? Today's coverage by NPR
Several days ago, Palestinian soldiers crossed the border, invaded Israel, killed two soldiers and kidnapped one. That fact has been confirmed by many sources.

Yesterday, israelis in tanks, helicopters, and warplanes, crossed the same border, killed many Palestinian civilians and "arrested" 30 or so Hamas politicians and civilian leaders.

Why are not both considered kidnappings?
Why is the press so pro-Israeli when 1,000,000 are without food, water, and electricity?
Why do we ignore the family picnic'ers who were murdered earlier by Israeli gunships - and which led to this entire conflict?

By the way, NPR tried to do a fair job, but their pro-Israeli tilt came out in the end.

1. I assume this is a rhetorical question
and you already know the answer.

2. Some say that the USA is controlled by the Israeli lobby,
but i have no personal knowledge of that. All MSM is pro Israeli, always have been. And i noticed the kidnapping and arresting angle, but in some circles what's going on in Palestine has been compared to genocide.

5. Gaza do not have access to water. What does that say?
YOu know, water is not just for car washes.

3. It's kidnapping
but your statement that the incursion into Gaza over the past three days, has killed many Palestinian civilians, is not, as I understand it, correct. According to every report I've read, there has been one Palestinian killed, and he was not a civilian. He was killed while attempting to fire a kassam rocket.

The cutting off of electricity and water is undoubtedly collective punishment and that action will indeed cause much suffering and significant death to the civilian population. However, not to be nitpicky but I don't think the numbers affected are anywhere near a million.

Furthermore, I don't think it's so easy to pinpoint what led to the current mess. Personally, I think years of occupation and intractability about reaching a solution on the part of both sides, makes flare ups like this inevitable.

The larger question is certainly valid; the pro-Israeli bias of the press is unmistakable, and I too have noticed that NPR, though better than most, slips into a pro-Israel mode of reporting.

4. I believe the best solution is to have Olmert and his cabinet put
on notice that they will be arrested for war crimes. It's the least the international community can do.

6. Unbelievable.
I actually agree with you here. I don't see any other way of halting this looming disaster for the civilians in Gaza.

7. .
Why do we ignore the family picnic'ers who were murdered earlier by Israeli gunships - and which led to this entire conflict?

---

It's all in the way you look at things, I could say that Hamas launching rockets into Israel lead to this entire conflict.
Truth is its alot more complicated then any single event.

8. They have had the option to release the Israeli soldier back to Israel.

That would have been the simple solution.

As you refer to, "Why do we ignore the family picnic'ers who were murdered earlier by Israeli gunships....?" .... keep it in the context of the innocent Israeli families, including women and children who were intentionally murdered by Palestinian suicide bombers and those who facilitate them.
