81 percent back fighting in north, 58% fight until eradicate Hizbullah
The survey also found that 58 percent of Israelis believe that fighting should continue until Hizbullah is completely eradicated. This number reached 69 percent among those living in the north. 23 percent of those surveyed think that the fighting should go on only until Hizbullah pulls back from the border. Only 17 percent think we should stop fighting and start negotiating.

There is general satisfaction with the performance of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Some 34 percent responded that his response to the fighting in the north has been "very good," 44 percent responded his response has been fairly good, and only 8 percent responded that it is "very bad."

The defense minister, Amir Peretz, also earned wide support of his performance. What are your opinions of the minister's performance? 72 percent of those surveyed responded that they are satisfied with Peretz of which 30% believe his performance is "very good." Only 12 percent of those surveyed believe that his performance has been "very bad."

What about whether or not the military operation is justified? 86 percent of you think it is the correct path of action (as opposed to 97 percent of those living in the north) while only 14 percent of you think it is a mistake.

2. Ahhh those % and survey
Of course what does the rest of the world think.
Frankly dark days ahead.
See Isreal BIG BROTHER has been totally screwed by chimp.
The USA of today is but a mere shadow of the USA of yesterday year,
You can thank bush.
However REALITY cannot be avoided. The damage bush done still to be felt.
We all living introuble times.
Isreal not too smart with this move.
Timing bad. Guess in the long run all this agression going to come back and haunt them big time.

As for US enjoyed Iraq and Afghan. Chimp make the bed. Americans got to sleep in it.
What a horrible way to go.
Slow and painful like a cancerous growth.
Leeching away, a slow drawn out painful bitter end.

This world mindset has change. And it does not look like a pretty picture for the US future.

3. Too bad it's not a question of will
Erradicating Hizbollah would require genocide of the Lebanese Shiites. Kill 'em all and God shall know his own. Because the relationship of Hezbollah to Shiite is probably no better than Cathars to S. France Catholics from when the phrase I quote came into wide usage. They'd have to kill pretty vast numbers to make a dent...

5. Unfortunately current approach would require genocide
Edited on Thu Jul-20-06 02:07 PM by Denver Dave
That's just what I was thinking would be required. The easy targets will go fast then the enemy is mixed in with the general population - or in this case is the general population. Military strikes didn't work in Vietnam, has not worked so far in Iraq. Guess it might have worked in Chechnya after bombing the population and infrastructure back to the stone age. Just hard to imagine this going well with out popular support and how have there be popular support when the civilian population is the target?
