US vetoes UN draft against Israeli plans to remove Arafat

The United States has vetoed a UN resolution opposing Israeli plans to expel Palestinian Yasser Arafat, saying the text fails to name Palestinian groups blamed for suicide bombings.

Eleven states, including France, China and Russia, voted for a draft resolution presented by Arab countries at the United Nations.

Britain, Bulgaria and Germany abstained and the United States voted against.

The text "demands Israel, the occupying power, to drop any effort to deport the elected president of the Palestinian Authority and cease threatening his security."

His human rights record in Honduras is shocking and appalling. For Negroponte to be the US ambassador to the UN shows the true colors of the Bush administration. Yes, he is following orders.
