Maybe this is the PNAC DREAM COME TRUE...Maybe it's what Bush says when he tells us "History will judge whether I was right or wrong."

But...there's some SERIOUS UNITY GOING in the ARAB WORLD THAT ISRAEL/NEO-CONS/BUSH might want to understand. Just like in Iraq...these Moralistic Visions of RE-MAKING the ME might look better when one is on a DRUNK than they do in the MORNING WITH A MEAN HANGOVER!!!!

Following up on DU'er "Overseas Visitor's" post and a link provided by "Big Tree" on the thread I found two articles that would seem to verify "OV's" "hair on fire" warning about the Arab Union and OIC's standing together at the United Nations against the Proposal by Bush and France.

You need to read this...It's not what our American Media is telling us and it is disturbing: Here's link to the OP by Overseas visitor for background

Muslim countries must be armed to match Israel's war machine

Wed, 9 Aug 2006, 11:06:00

The Prime Minister of Lebanon has rightly termed the acts of Israel as state terrorism. The problem with the Bush administration is that it supports Israel's state terrorism against Muslims but the Muslims are condemned as terrorists when they fight state terrorism of Israel to protect their territories and lives.

All sensible people agree that foreign occupations spawn militants to resist such occupations. In modern days there is no imperialism so blatant than Israeli imperialism. Even the USA is thinking how soon to leave Iraq and Afghanistan. But Israel backed by US might and money has made it a normal business to occupy and keep the territories of neighbouring Muslim countries.

The Muslim countries of the Middle East must wake up to the reality of Israeli imperialism and prepare themselves militarily. No resistance group, however powerful and well-organised, can face a state bent on taking advantage of lack of military preparedness and occupying another country's territory to show off its superior military power.

The Muslim countries must arm themselves for their own survival as long as the US goes on arming Israel against them.

much more at this link and worth the read for another view...

OIC should consider arms for Hezbollah: Malaysian minister

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said on Tuesday that the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) nations should consider supplying arms to Hezbollah amid anger and frustration over Israel’s offensive in Lebanon. Malaysia currently chairs the 57-nation OIC, and Syed Hamid said Israel could not be allowed to act with impunity, although it seemingly had “carte blanche” in its operations. “Some are suggesting that we supply arms. Okay, we should look at all these things,” Syed Hamid was quoted as saying by the state Bernama news agency. “The governments (of OIC) countries should look and we must not allow Israel to do what it wants,” he said, but added that Muslim countries had to act according to international norms and principles.

Malaysia last week hosted a meeting of the OIC, which demanded an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East and warned that boiling anger over the Israeli offensive could launch a new wave of terrorism. Syed Hamid also criticised a United Nations draft resolution on ending the conflict, which has been rejected by Lebanon because it does not call for the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory. “I think we must not look at Israel only. We must also look at what Lebanon wants. I think it is unfair, imbalanced and unjust to just look at what Israel wants,” he said. “The world should not be dictated just purely by Israeli desire but it must be incorporating justice and fairness in the international system,” he said. afp

1. All during the Cold War the U.S. armed Israel and the Soviets
armed the Arabs. In its own strange way this contributed a modest degree of stability. The Arabs would attack Israel, get their asses kicked, then rearm, train and do things like buying fire engine pumps from Europe so they could wash away the sand berms on the Suez canal. The wars could be controlled by the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. controlling the flow of munitions, when the two big powers said "cease fire" the war stopped.

to the Spawning Grounds! "What we have sown...so shall we reap." Robertson and Falwell seem to read only "slected passages from THEIR BIBLE" forgetting that there are other "Christians" out there who might have grown up with a more New Testament version which called out what THEY SAY as LIES or to be more "forgiving" ...an "Unenlightened View" of the Bible.

We are NOT ALL ...such as THEY! We are NOT ALL DOCTRINAIRE! "Forgiveness, Turning the Other Cheek, Helping the Poor, Not Judging lest YE SHALL be Judged, and "Do Unto Others as YOU would have them DO UNTO YOU" is the Christian Doctrine I and others were raised with.

For Wolf Blitzer to suck up to Pat Robertson about "Armageddon" based on not the BIBLE but some religious fantasy writer of Christian Bookstore Books just makes me :puke: that they could think so little of ANY BELIEF...and Shows they DO NOT HAVE ANY BELIEF but the ALMIGHTY DOLLAR! which Jesus in the New Testament WARNED ABOUT!

Disgusting...really...How we have been PLAYED by the GLOBALISTS/CORPORATIST WHORES who care NOTHING about THEOLOGY but have SO MANY believeing THEM!!!!! SNOOKERED/HOODWINKED.....like those folks who call into C-Span that makes many of us want to turn it off, daily!

6. I disagree.
The economic factors that would make a world conflagration likely, simply aren't in place.

9. Cali...we owe all our national debt to China, Saudi's, Japan and Caymen
Islands. But, most to China? We have a housing bubble bursting...most here are in credit card debt and our "Gross Domestic Product" is US Folks spending at WalMart!

We don't have manufacturing as our base anymore, we only have "service industries." When folks don't have money or need to buy gas or heat or cool their houses they cut back on Hair Styling, Eating Out, Buying Cars and shopping at WalMart.

Why do you think that an "economic world conflagration" couldn't happen if Americans can afford to buy then China can't sell and India has to cut back on IT and the whole thing implodes.

What is your idea about why it can't happen...I've given you my dark side and War, imho, doesn't help our economy because we've been at war and we are all in debt and our income isn't going up and we are getting soaked for oil and natural gas.

10. I agree with you
but so far those things haven't happened, and until they do, a world war isn't going to happen. How likely are they to happen? Most experts don't think it's too likely. There are too many powerful forces intent on preserving the status quo- and not only in this country.

4. Our moderate point of view
has been gripped by madness
We all waiting for UN resolution
Malaysia trying to all get all to wait for UN
Must follow internation law and norms

If UN resolution get veto
There will be no more excuse left from path of war
We the people of the world lose.

That is the reality.
Maybe you think all this talk
They have sit quietly and watch what happen to Taliban in Afghanistan. You see them as terrorist but the muslim world dont
They watch Iraq. You see them as needing Democracy but the muslim world dont.
Now Lebanon
You making all go mad.
What make one think that one can make war and others not crazy to make war.
Madness rules the day. And people still think we are in sane time.
That countries wants war. US declare war on muslim countries.
Now third one in process.
Last chance for peace through UN
Then war will come to middle east not on the scale of just Iran and Syria.
It will be muslim countries gainst Isreal and US already in with troops in Iraq.
STOP THE DAMN BULLY
BIG CROWD with small stick heading your way.

5. Hey, "OV" many of us here on this site protested in the Streets to stop
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 10:01 PM by KoKo01
the Iraq Invasion...we signed and sent thousands of petitions to the UN and sent E-Mails to the French Ambassador pleading with him to stop it.

Way back then when America was still the country that many of us grew up in...we believed we had a RIGHT TO PETITION as citizens....BUT...we invaded Iraq and look what's happened...what we told them would happen if we went in there and invaded.

I can't do anything about this but give your cautions some posting time here on DU...I and others here tried to stop the "Madness" of this rogue Elephant...but it's beyond our power.

Anyway...I hope someone will listen to our pleas once again. I think it's out of the "common peoples hands" unless (as you are so alarmed about) the Arab countries see citizens rise up!... and who wants to see WWIII? Certainly none of us here, if there is a way to have Peace through Diplomacy? But, with Bush at the "Ranch" and Tony in the "Bahamas" then it seems the two leaders who should be "Peacemaking" are on Holiday while Lebanon burns and Israel waits for someone to come in and stop them.

We are doing the best we can here on this website and others to make changes....what else can we do?

Iraq cannot blow middle East suituation to peices.

Lebanon is like straw that break the camel back.

If US veto resolution.
Men weapon and resources start flowing in from Muslims countries
And if Isreal takes this as act of war
Then War declare between Muslim countries and Isreal

UN only road to peace. But UN cannot be abused by US
Then countries start doing thing themself
Then madness grip us all

8. Well you could look at history
The Arabs united under Saladin and reversed crusader gains in the same region.
The Egyptian sultanate created a highly effective slave army(Mamluks) that defeated the Mongols and the crusaders and drove them out of the region.

But when they speak with one voice. One better listen.

They now has one voice. Speaking in the UN. The Arab League is now in New York.
Now they speak with one voice.
Now not time for games
Now time to look at reality.
