Jewish terrorist gets 4 life sentences
The Jerusalem District Court sentenced Asher Weisgan, who was found guilty of murdering four Palestinians who had worked with him in an aluminum factory at the West Bank settlement of Shilo in August 2005, to four life sentences. He was sentenced to an additional 12 years for attempted murder and was ordered to compensate the victims’ families.

Weisgan – a resident of the Shvut Rachel settlement in the West Bank and father of two – claimed that he carried out this heinous act in a bid to stop the disengagement and with the thought that his actions would encourage others to follow suit.

1. without going to the source
i believe the phase terrorist is way too overused. What political outcome was he hoping to achieve with a mass murder?

2. One of the very rare examples of a Jewish terrorist.
ever getting jail time. Wonderful. It remains to be seen if he will serve out his sentence.
If he had been killed, there would be memorials around the settlements honoring his acts, much like Baruch Goldstein, honored among some in Israel and here in the US.

Meanwhile, most Israeli settlers are free to do as they wish, with Israeli authorities complicity. despite this token prosecution.

5. I seem to remember
that on the post from last week announcing the conviction of the Israeli terrorist, some posters were sceptical that the sentence would be severe. I guess they have been answered.

7. I recall...
That I would wait to come out with the gushing praise demanded of us until the sentence had been handed down as in the past, settlers who murdered Palestinian have been given light sentences for the most part....

This sentence is one that will hopefully get the message across to others that it doesn't matter what the nationality of the murderer is - the punishment is harsh no matter who they murder...

8. One exception. sorry, not impressed.
Constant attacks by illegal Israeli settlers in Hebron against the Palestinians, never a conviction of any length of time, not only are the authorities not arresting perps, they are helping them in their crimes.

6. That's a good outcome....
It's a punishment that reflects the severity of the crime....
