Fence 'won't stop attacks on Israel'
THE radical Palestinian group Hamas said overnight the security barrier Israel is building to seal itself off from the West Bank will not stop Hamas militants from carrying out attacks on the Jewish state.

"In denouncing the line ... which carves up the Palestinian territories and prevents contact among Palestinians, Hamas is convinced that this wall will not protect the Zionist entity and will not stop strikes by the resistance," the group said in a published statement.

"One day will see the total collapse of this wall," said Hamas. "The remains of this wall will be witnesses to the racism of the Zionist entity."

1. If Killing Terrorists
If killing terrorists ended terrorism, Israel would be the safest place on earth.
Ask the East Germans if the wall was able to keep dedicated people from crossing the border.

9. The Berlin was not built to prevent East Germans from killing innocents
The main reason to prevent Palestinians from getting into to Israel illegally is to prvent them from blowing up innocent Israelis.

A very good reason IMO considering the bloodlust some Palestinians have for kiling Jews out of hatred.

18. Where is that land?
Depends on who you ask. If you ask the gang of murdering bastards at Hamas, that would include all of Israel. So trying to satisfy them is a fool's errand.

Since I'm not, I don't see the releavance of your point.

Or maybe you think I am?

How it ties into this article:--read a mention of a recent piece of his in an-Nahar earlier but didn't have a link to the full/original. He suggests that Arafat is more dangerous than Hamas because Hamas is supposedly considering dropping attacks in '48 lands (anywhere in '67-occupied lands being fair game, so the wall won't do piss for that), whereas Arafat is not and his Tanzim is being "penetrated by Hizbullah" (I hope they're wearing a rubber) and is a more frightening prospect to Israeli conspiracy theorists than Hamas (clashes a bit with this announcement above, though bluster cannot be written off); was curious where the original was and hoping it wasn't JPost.

thanks. :toast:

eesh.. re-reading it, it says "in Ze'ev Shiff's editorial in Wednesday's Haaretz" quite clearly. My skimming needs work..

15. I knew I'd heard the name.
So I went and read his Haaretz piece from Wed.
Some interesting comments.

I think we're heading for chaos. I don't think Humpty Dumpty
will get put back together again any time soon.

5. Cut the bullshit.
If the Pals stop killing Israelis, Sharon will get voted out of office, and peace will happen.

It's that simple. It always has been. And everybody goddamn well knows it.

7. And if the Israelis...
stop abusing the palestinians, the suicide bombings would stop, Sharon would get out of office, and peace will happen. the fact is taht it works both ways, but the neccesary trigerring step won't be taken by either side.

20. Not a prayer
The attacks on Israel won't end until the Palestinians help root out the terror groups that don't accept Israel has a right to exist.

Under no peace plan does Israel actually get peace. All it gets is a more focused war with less territory.

11. Yes, at the expense of ANY number of others
If preventing the useless murder of an innocent Israeli takes keeping millions of would be murderers out then it is justified.

16. And it is genocide.....
They are doing what they can to make Palestinians homeless through destroying their homes and keeping them from working. This will pretty much starve out many of them if they don't die from the bad water. They're using the deaths of seven hundred Israelis (which most of those deaths could have been prevented by not occupying) to excuse genocide. Sick! Will all the LGFers please get off of this board?

Don't think that I don't recognize the word "Pal". That's a common statement used on LGF. What degrading statement can be make for Israelis? Oh yeah, that's right. The real progressives don't stoop to that level.

Because he doesn't live in Israel. No other reason given.

That, excuse my french, is bollocks.

I would tend to agree that if he had to fear even going to a pizza parlor or riding a bus because of Hamas terrorists, his opinion would be different.

25. And so did I
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 10:44 AM by tinnypriv

Can you read?

Or are you just reflexively looking for anything which in your fantasy land isn't a condemnation of these sick, murderous fucks?

I'll do it S-L-O-W-L-Y:

1. Both I and Darranar take Hamas blowing people up seriously.

2. Both I and Darranar DO NOT take this statement of Hamas seriously.

The reason for (2) is trivial and obvious.

There is a BIG FREAKING WALL AROUND GAZA. And no suicide bombers. It stands to reason that if there was a BIG FREAKING WALL AROUND THE WEST BANK, there would be no suicide bombers from there either.

Hence, Hamas are either stupid, lying or both. Therefore, there is no reason to take them seriously in this context.

Jesus. Feels like a kindergarten around here sometimes.

30. Unclear?
What exactly was unclear?

This "threat," coming from the source that it comes from, is ridiculous. Since this was a reply to a thread, isn't it rather clear in the context?
