"Exit polls by Channel 10 indicated that Ehud Barak received 51 percent of the votes in his run-off for Labor chairmanship against Ami Ayalon (49 percent). Channel 2 predicted Barak won with 50.5 percent, while Channel 1 gave Barak 52 percent of the votes.

Voter turnout was around 60 percent of register Labor party voters.

After two weeks of wooing, negotiations, and speculations, the Labor Party chose its new chairman Tuesday. The ballots opened at 8:30 am and closed at 9:00 pm. The official results will be announced on Wednesday morning.

Shortly after the ballots opened, both candidates cast there vote, former Prime Minister Ehud Barak in Kfar Saba, and MK Ami Ayalon in Moshav Geva Carmel.

Barak called on Labor Party members to vote, and said that he was the only one who could unite the Labor party, and beat Knesset Member Benjamin Netanyahu."
