Settlers return olive trees stolen from Palestinian-owned grove
<snip>

"Settlers from the West Bank outpost of Adi-ad on Tuesday returned hundreds of olive trees they had uprooted from a Palestinian-owned grove last week.

The Civil Administration ordered the settlers to give back some 300 trees after an inquiry verified the claims of a Palestinian farmer that they had been stolen from his land.

During the inquiry it was revealed settlers replanted some of the trees within their outpost and on the sides of the access road leading to it.

As a result of the Civil Administration order, settlers returned the trees to their owner and set up an irrigation system."

1. I'm impressed. A rare act of sanity in this type of matter.
The norm is to get away with this sort of thing cleanly, right?

6. Are you trying to be offensive? Or are you just trying to maintain that Israel is blameless in
every confrontation between themselves and the Palestinians?

7. It was your post that was offensive.
Mine merely pointed out what generally happens when stories of Israel "doing the right thing" get posted here. Your second question doesn't merit a response other than it makes no sense as my original comment said nothing about your offensive suggestion phrased as a question.

8. I would imagine that it's not nearly as offensive as having your livelihood uprooted. n/t

9. Perhaps not, but it doesn't excuse other forms of offensive behavior. n/t

11. There is more of 'doing the right thing'
in not doing the wrong thing to begin with.

Those who stole the trees to begin with knew exactly what they were doing - olive trees don't just sprout up in groves all by themselves. Would they have been replaced if they HADN'T been called on it?

But, nonetheless, throwing in an irrigation system as reparation IS a good move, and that should be noted.

13. While your subject statement is true...
...there is also noting that doing the right thing when a bad thing has occurred is important as well.

3. Yes..
...settlers are rarely punished for destroying or uprooting Palestinian groves.

5. In fact, I thought it was more or less SOP for them
to do so.

10. I am glad that the Civil Administration intervened, and that justice was done in the end
