Report: Mossad, IAF have plan for Iran nuke sites
The German newspaper Der Spiegel reported Saturday that Israel has prepared plans for a pre-emptive strike against Iran's nuclear facilities in order to halt Iran's progress towards attaining nuclear weapons.

Der Spiegel reported that a special unit of the Mossad received an order two months ago to prepare a detailed plan to destroy Iran's nuclear sites. According to the paper, the Mossad's plan is ready and has been delivered to the Israeli Air Force, which will carry out the strike.

The newspaper said its source is an IAF fighter-bomber pilot, who said the plan to take out Iran's nuclear sites was "complex, yet manageable."

The paper added that Israel knows Iran has six nuclear sites, all of which would be attacked simultaneously by Israeli jets.

It is comforting to know the IAF and Mossad are prepared.

1. Planas are just that
any responsible government should plan for all manner of reasonable risk.

The US has plans on how to fight a war with China it doesn't mean we relish the idea.

2. This will fail miserably...
Iran would never be stupid enough to store their nuclear materials in plain site. If no one else can find them, I doubt the Mossad can.

The fact that they're releasing this information to the public makes me think that they aren't going to do anything about this.

EDITED for typing

They failed to justify a thug's predetermined course of action.

To Bush, that there was nothing to find was not an acceptable excuse for not finding anything. Now that Dr. Kay has failed to find anything, Bush is going to channel Ponce de Leon and send him to Iraq to look for Saddam's arsenal.

45. India is only getting to keep them till the other 3 get nuked

In fact, US may have India nuke Pakistan, who will nuke them back, thus reducing the troublesome population who can't be depended on to put US business interests before their own.

The hope is that N Korea and China will nuke each other, and take care of the pesky Asia problem once and for all.

If Israel does a good enough job nuking Iran, they might get to nuke Russia!

72. The difference
Although I don't see that you have a point, the relatives of Israeli casualties from the so-called "suicide bombers" or other attacks, sniper or rocks, are not willing to continue to be the vicitms of the Arab states. While many do not want revenge for the deaths, a preventative stike on a terrorist camp or a nuclear facility (assuming no civilian casualties) is not a civilian target. Wake up.

unless they have missiles that can hit the United States....

The U S has to respect the North Korean threat because they could wreak havoc on our ally,South Korea with or without nuclear weapons. Also, they have missiles that may or not be able to reach the U S....

Who is Iran going to hold hostage?

Saudi Arabia....

I don't think so....

But I do agree with your premise that the PNAC philosophy of this administration and the preemptive strike doctrine encourages nuclear proliferation...

I'm just not sure that the countries that are going nuclear have thought it through with as much alacrity as they think....

Look at it this way.

If the US attacks Iran, Iran has two choices:

A: they can fight a conventional war, and their regime will be toppled.

B: They can launch nukes into the American forces and kill them off, and perhaps (note the perhaps) be spared nuclear annihalation.

They'll probably lose their nation either, way, but at least (B) gives them a chance to the contrary...

Yeah I also wonder about that. Does Israel's possession make those around them feel any safer. What if they used their WMD against others? They have nukes, lots of them. Why should Israel have the right denied to others? Under people like Sharon if I lived in a neighbouring country I wouldn't feel any safer then if I was Saddams neigbour fearing him...

48. I'm speaking roughly, from 48, but we can go back if you like, and

Whether the world is safer if Iran has nukes depends on whether you consider that Iran is part of the world and has the right to exist and defend itself.

My psychic powers tell me we probably disagree on that.

My personal preference would be for the US, Israel and Iran to disarm.

You say "any Muslim country" but MOST of the muslim countries that are a threat to the world are being ignored.

Israel DOES NOT SUPPORT terrorist organizations in other countries as Iran does.

Israel is a democracy, democracies are more stable than theocratic dictatorships.

The nuclear genie is out of the bottle and all that can be hoped for now is to limit them to nations that are part of or seeking to be part of the world community.

Explain your double standard on almost all of your criticisms of Israel. How can you, with a straight face, defend nations like Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia while spweing your nascent polemics against Israel?

Who says I DEFEND them? Show me ONE post where I have defended them. But I am most surely not going to defend Israel either as some of you are doing here, persistently if I may say so! Because they are still far from the democracy you consider them. As they are violating numerous international laws, conventions, resolutions and are engaged in an illegal occupation and settlement building to name just a few things.. Ahhh
