AL-BIEREH, Palestine, July 21, 2003(IPC+ Wafa)—The Palestinian Committee for the Defense of Lands of Palestine (DLP) stated Monday that the Israeli authorities announced a tender to build huge settling housing units on the lands of the villages of Beit Sureek, Bedo and the other adjacent villages in the northern west of Jerusalem in order to expand the settlement of Haradar, built on Palestinians' lands.

Coordinator of DLP, Eissa Smander stated that the Israeli authorities, in cooperation with the so-called "Bureau of Israel's Lands", has presented tempting offer through newspapers published in Hebrew and Arabic inside the green line "Israel", saying that inhabitants above 18-year-old of Haradar settlement who have been living there since the 1st of May, 2000 have the right to rent what they called " governmental property in the West Bank" for 98 years.

“These renting offers, costing only 82,000 shekels throughout the 98 years are a completion of the construction of 750 illegal residential units at the expense of Palestinians' lands. The pretext has been always the same: the natural growth and the broadening the of settlement of Haradar A and C, but what is taking place on the ground is a depredation and confiscation of the Palestinian peasant lands,” Smander said.
