Palestinians: Israeli attack wounds 2 Hamas militants in Gaza
Asharq alawest
The Leading Arabic International Daily - English Edition
24/05/2008

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - Palestinian medical officials say two Hamas militants have been wounded in an Israeli attack in the northern Gaza Strip.
Residents say the militants were firing mortar shells at nearby Israeli troops when they were attacked. Palestinian medics say one of the militants is in critical condition.

Saturday's incident occurred near the Nahal Oz fuel depot on the border between Israel and Gaza. The depot is used to pump fuel into Gaza.

The Israeli military had no immediate comment on the incident.

1. What a bunch of fools
there we go again.

Bombing the very depot that supplies THEIR fuel.

I think it is time for Israel to just seal the borders completely, and let the other arab countries deal with supplying food and fuel to the Palestinians.

3. Did you read the alternate version of the article where the word 'near' vanished?
They didn't bomb the depot. The article wasn't a long or complex one, so I don't know how you could have missed this:

'Saturday's incident occurred near the Nahal Oz fuel depot on the border between Israel and Gaza.'

5. Because the mortars were being fired at Israeli troops...
What you said about bombing the fuel depot was incorrect...

7. Give them a day
By tomorrow they will be firing at or trying to bomb their own fuel depot or food trucks.

It is a pretty common occurence these days.

10. So your saying this a daily occurrence?
or every other day? Weekly? Please prove your assertion with links to these claimed incidences.

6. Is your reading comprehension a bit off
Edited on Tue May-27-08 01:46 PM by azurnoir
or are you making a conscious attempt to misrepresent the incident? The attack was not on the fuel depot it was near the depot and oh gasp it was not on civilians it was on the military, I note how that was ignored.

oops posted before I noted VC's comments

the well known 'accuracy' of the rockets........

Edited on Tue May-27-08 01:54 PM by azurnoir

9. And if they really cared about their fuel
why would they shoot rockets near their own fuel depot?

Seems there is a good chance the rockets could hit.

If they cared about their people receiving their fuel, wouldn't they pick another target for their "resistance"?

Just seems absolutely stupid.

12. Seems that they were aiming at the Israeli military
and as I already pointed out they were using mortars not kassams.

13. Mortars
or rockets, the end result is still the same, no accurancy and if I were them and cared about hitting the fuel depots I would think twice.

15. Mortors do not have the range that rockets do
and there for need to be fired at a closer distance.

Not when Veggie is here to give us a completely different version of what happened ;)

18. Oh,
so it's O.K that they were trying to kill the Israelis and not trying to blow up the fuel depot?
I get it now.

19. Yes, apparently so
I repeat, if the militants cared about the food or fuel (which is supposed to be for their people, who are starving and living in the dark, or so we hear), they wouldn't bomb an area NEAR the fuel depot.

That fuel would be seen as too precious to potentially bomb.

But the militants don't care about their people sitting in the dark, obviously.

Because the goal is to kill as many Israelis as possible.
