Settler fires rocket at Palestinians
<snip>

"Israeli security officials say students from a far-right Jewish theological seminary on a West Bank settlement built a crude rocket and fired it at a nearby Palestinian village, although it failed to reach its target.

The officials say troops in the area heard a loud explosion and initially thought Palestinians were attacking the settlement of Yitzhar, where the seminary is situated. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the incident is still being investigated by agents of the Shin Bet security agency.

Police spokesman Danny Poleg said Friday that detectives searched the settlement and questioned residents but made no arrests.

Until a truce with Islamic militants took effect Thursday, they regularly fired rockets into Israel from Gaza."

1. Then its a good job
they didn't score an own goal and let the Palestinians take the blame for it. Having said that if the klutzes repeat the exercise I hope it blows in their faces to teach them a lesson.

2. the problem with an "Eye for an Eye" is that soon everybody is blind.
actually that saying was created to limit the damage to society by feuds.. it was meant to limit reprisals to at least equal what you thought was done to you... to prevent genocide for minor transgressions.

3. Another rocket attack? Those murderous terrorists!!!!
Oh...wait.....I forgot that we're only supposed to go into overdrive and froth at the mouth if it's Palestinians and not Israelis who are firing rockets at civilians. In this case it's only Israelis firing at Palestinian civilians so I'd best do what most other people in this forum do and totally ignore this thread ;)

for the sake of killing them is evil no matter who does it, nor does it matter how large the warhead is.....whether its a "one time" thing or a trend will be shown in time......

7. Such an unfair and silly comment.
Especially given the replies to the thread, including this one. The perpetrators are guilty of a terrorist attack and attempted murder of innocent civilians. Find them, prosecute them, and put them away. Which I believe Israel will do, in contrast to the actions of Hamas.

10. Well, there were no replies until after I posted...
You'd be right about it being unfair and silly if this thread had comments on it before I posted. It hadn't, and was sinking like a rock though there's one or two posters who commented who I already knew would find this an act of terrorism..

Just in case I miss it, can you make sure you post any updates on this story where Israel tracks down these terrorists and doles out the same treatment as they do to anyone else firing rockets? I'll be interested in seeing it.

This nut is treated just like any other terrorist by Israel and that the full force of the law cracks down upon him.

13. Arrest made
Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said that police arrested Gilad Herman, a student at a yeshiva in the settlement. Rosenfeld said Herman was arrested at Yitzhar on Saturday, "in connection with the house-to-house search that took place about a month ago for weapons."

The arrest follows a reported attempt last month to launch a home-built rocket from Yitzhar at the neighboring village of Burin.

n 2006, the IDF withdrew troops stationed at Yitzhar for its protection, citing repeated settler attacks on soldiers and destruction of military equipment.

The yeshiva is strongly affiliated with the extreme Right and some of its students were among the 20 people police banned from the West Bank about a year ago. The yeshiva's president, Yitzhak Ginsberg, has written a book in praise of Jewish terrorist Baruch Goldstein.
