PA official arrested for smuggling weapons comissioned by PA
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1066287143868

On Thursday, the Shin Bet released for publication its arrest of a PA security official suspected of smuggling ammunition from Egypt to Gaza Strip, allegedly for such high ranking officials as former PA security minister Muhammad Dahlan.

The man, Akhram Tubassi, a member of the Palestinian Coast Guard, was detained by the Shin Bet on October 7th. He confessed to purchasing weapons in Egypt, commissioned by senior officials of the PA security system. The connection to Dahlan is still under investigation.

To smuggle the weapons, Tubassi used tunnels (those same smuggling tunnels the IDF has been trying to eliminate in its recent Operation Root Canal) and three "errand boys", who went back and forth carrying, among others, guns, missiles and thousands of bullets.

According to the allegations, the weapons were delivered to senior security official Nabil Tamus. Tubassi testified Tamus asked him to wait while he checks with Dahlan before "placing an order" for missiles. Tubassi was arrested before Tamus returned with an answer.
Tubassi also testified to his involvement in smuggling six missiles in January 2001, commissioned by Fuad Shubaki, the man who financed the attempted smuggling of the Karine A arms vessel into the Gaza Strip. He was further involved in the preparation of anti-tank missiles.

..................................................................

OH !!....OH !!!....OH!!!!

This cant possibly be true....

1. Two comments...
Firstly, if the PA is meant to fight terrorists, just how is it supposed to do that without weapons and ammunition? Does the IDF supply the PA?

Second, just how long was Akhram Tubassi tortured by the Shin Bet before he finally confessed?

3. Lol
"Tubassi also testified to his involvement in smuggling six missiles in January 2001, commissioned by Fuad Shubaki, the man who financed the attempted smuggling of the Karine A arms vessel into the Gaza Strip."

I guess the PA/PLO now need missles to control the
terrorists, huh??

Is it all possible in your thinking that they ARE using the
tunnels to smuggle weapons in order to kill commit atrocities??

4. Oh yes, it's possible...
But the PA itself? Highly unlikely. Why, I hear you ask? Because they would not want to risk having PA members arrested doing such acts.

As you well know, the PA has a major PR operation, and there is no need for the PA to get involved in weapons smuggling, because there are more than enough Palestinians unconnected to the PA willing to do this sort of thing.

So why risk the bad publicity?

Nope, the PA is not that stupid, which is why I believe that this guy is either rogue, or he was tortured into confessing by the Shin Bet.

Now, don't tell me you don't believe that Shin Bet does such things?

7. Pul-eeze....
it makes perfectly good sense that they hire people to
do the smuggling so their hands are clean.

And the tunnels fit perfectly....

Your trust in the PA is a whole lot more than mine.

9. A whole lot more than
when those 2 IDF were held in the PA police station
and were brutally tortured to fucking death by a mob and
their lifeless bodies thrown out the window.

One of the most revolting inhuman acts I have ever seen.

10. Well
Many Palestinians could say the same about the love ones they lost that inhumanely died while they bled out on the streets while the IDF was denying medical access. But in your mind that does(and could)not happen...

11. Laughable....

I know something about the medical practices there.
The hospitals take in all wounded patients regardless
of their backgrounds. I even posted on a liver transplant on
a palestinian from a jewish family. As for the ambulances
being delayed, pretty funny considering the palestinians terrorists
penchant for transporting weapons in them.

15. If the IDF are so worried about Palestinian ambulances...
why don't they provide IDF ambulances to do the job instead?

14. I rmember the video of four IDF soldiers...
breaking the arms and legs of a protestor with small boulders. They did it out in the open in front of TV cameras, because they knew they would get away with it.

That was pretty inhuman too, and I wonder what the Shin Bet gets up to behind closed doors?

13. And yet, that is the exact opposite of what is being claimed here...
The Shin Bet is saying that this PA official was directly ivolved in the smuggling, and confessed to such.

Why, would the PA risk such exposure when they could easily get outsiders to do it for them?

I am not saying I trust the PA, I am saying I don;t think the PA is stupid, and that they would maintain plausible deniability if they were going to get involved in smuggling.

16. The same Dahlan who calls Arafat a dog and a liar?
I doubt it.

Until the "allegedly" and "suspected" BS qualifiers disappear from this story, it should be treated with contempt.
