Would an international peacekeeping force help stop the violence in Gaza?

I am a bit surprised that I haven't seen more discussion of this idea as a way to at least take a first step to stop the violence.

5. NATO in Kosovo didn't do so bad peacekeeping

There have been times when peace keeping forces worked, even in highly polarized areas.

6. How many missile attacks on Israel has Hezbollah

made since the 2006 cease fire? And did UNFIL not very recently find and disarm a missile array aimed at Israel? But I guess that is useless isn't it? What is even more useless is that UNFIL is helping to undo Israel's defacto minefield or helping to remove unexploded ordinance from northern Lebanon.

about forming a commission might be useful. The laws of this planet have been *hit on by the * regime. There is no reason to abide by the laws anymore. Maybe the 911 Commission could head on over and see what they can see. IMO this situation in Gaza is a last ditch effort to kill as many as possible before Obama takes office and hopefully restores the art of communication and international negotiation.

7. As a general rule, peacekeepers don't keep the peace.

The reality is that cease fires and truces occur and continue because the parties see benefits in not shooting at each other. There are exception, but they occur when the peace keepers are well armed and actively enforce the peace. That means that an international force in Gaza would end up fighting terrorists, hunting out and destroying rocket factories, and searching for and closing smuggling tunnels. Sound familiar? It's what the Israelis have been trying to do. I don't think anyone is going to send troops to do Israel's work.
