Sarkozy:Egypt invites Israel to hold border security talks
CAIRO, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Egypt has offered Israel to have talks on the issue of border security, visiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy said in an Egyptian Red Sea resort on Tuesday.

"(Egyptian) President (Hosni) Mubarak invites Israel to discuss the matter of border security 'without delay'," Sarkozy said after talks with Mubarak at the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

The talks on Tuesday is the second meeting in the past 24 hours between Mubarak and Sarkozy, who is current on a Middle East tour to promote a ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian groups in the Gaza Strip, said the Egyptian MENA news agency.

Sarkozy said he informed the Israeli side the Egyptian invitation during his talks with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and will get response soon.

1. Is it just me or is this more theater?
Wasn't there a post here somewhere that said American troops were "helping" out at the Egyptian border crossing?

2. All politics is theater.
I take this to mean that certain politicians are feeling the heat, and looking to dissemble and prevaricate about their spineless complicity in this debacle.

4. honoring Israel's request must be hard to do with the ongoing massacre
hopefully Israel will come to it's senses but i suspect only America will have the influence necessary to move Israel off it's current disastrous course.

hopefully the new admin will come in with more rational/adult ideas
