1. Anti-tank missiles in Gaza. My, those tunnels were busy.
Israel was, of course, so wrong to shut them down.

Peaceful people with no intention of provoking an invasion always keep a few anti-tank missiles around.

2. Or long range Grads, that they smuggled in, piece by piece
during the "truce".

Don't you love those peace loving militants?

3. And the weapons Israel stockpiled during this time were
for maintaining order at soccer games?

When you have this kind of cycle of violence, each side always blames the other for provocations, and there are provocations on both sides. But there is a clear double standard if one side is permitted to blockade, engage in armed incursions, and bomb the other without his being regarded as an act of war that merits a response or even a mention in the press and when one side is allowed to arm itself to the teeth, while the other is contemned for "smuggling" arms into its supposedly independent nations. The bias is stunning.

12. The thing is, tanks are only invincible from far away
No matter how high-tech its armor is, if a guy can get within spitting distance with some C4, he can find weak spots.

13. I understand that...tanks without infantry support are vulnerable...
...especially in built-up areas.

The Merkava is known for its toughness; my recollection is that it has only been within the last couple of years that the Iranian's developed an anti-tank mine capable of knocking one out completely (not just blowing off a track, or something like that), I mean something actually capable of destroying vehicle and crew.

So...I am still curious as to the type of anti-tank rocket used, and who manufactured it...Russia, China, Iran, Us?

Reporting on this stuff is open to misunderstanding by news people...it may not have been an actual "anti-tank rocket" at all.

14. Yeah, air cover seems to be important too.
But certainly infantry support is a plus. I understand they require a boatload of fuel too ...

5. OMG - they killed an Israeli army officer?
STOP THE PRESSES. Those fucking animals! How dare they! Targeting the enemy's military? Don't they know the rules?

:sarcasm:

Guess Israel will have to respond by killing a few dozen civilians. BTW, this isn't sarcasm. I'm sure this is exactly how Israel will respond.

6. The Markava is a well built tank
It uses classified armor based on US Chobham Armor design and incorporates a double hull making older HEAT style warheads useless.

I am interesting to see if we learn what missile and launcher was used. We aren't talking about no 1970 era Soviet surplus junk.
It takes some substantial and modern ordinance to defeat a modern MBT.

Who made it? Chinese? Russian? French?
And where did it come from? Egypt? Iran?
