AP: Iran to boycott companies dealing with Israel

TEHRAN,Iran: Iranian state television says the government plans to impose sanctions on any foreign companies dealing with Israel.

The Sunday report says the government approved the outlines of a bill under which foreign companies will face punitive measures or sanctions by Iran if if they seek any deals with Israel.

The report did not elaborate.

The bill requires ratification by Iranian parliament to become a law.

On Tuesday, Iranian authorities issued an order banning international companies from working in Iran if they have any shares owned by Israelis.

Both moves are seen as a gesture of support for militant Palestinian Hamas — a top Iran ally under an Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.

1. Boycotts are better than bombing runs.

2. Undoubtedly.
Yet this seems to be escalating.

Israel bombs Iranian state TV's offices in Gaza...

Iran boycotts Israeli businesses...

This among the NYT's report of Israel asking to use Iraq's airspace in order to bomb Iranian reactors.

A bit scary.

4. We're boycotting Iran, not the other way around
Iran is threatening to boycott not Israel (which, like us, is already boycotting Iran), but any company that does business with Israel.
