Rescued Iraqi Jews arrive in Israel

In a secret humanitarian rescue mission dubbed "Ezra m'Tzion" (Help from Zion), six elderly Jews were brought from Baghdad to Israel on Friday by the Jewish Agency, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) and the Prime Minister's Office.

Those Jews who remain in Baghdad - and there are just 28 of them - have chosen to do so of their own accord, and should they change their minds, we will be able to help them leave, Jewish Agency spokesperson Michael Rosenberg told The Jerusalem Post. While in Iraq, the team was granted security protection by the US government.

1. Rescued from whom?

The only one they had to fear was the aftermath of the US invasion: lawlessness and rising Islamic fundamentalism. They have Bush to thank for that!

3. elderly family

Some of the immigrating Jews were reunited with their children whom they hadn't see in over 50 years. The children didn't know if their mother was alive, assumed she was dead.
