Rightists in Israel predict dismal fate for Obama envoy's efforts
Israeli rightists on Wednesday predicted a dismal fate for George Mitchell's peacemaking efforts, shortly before the new United States Middle East envoy was set to arrive in Israel.

"I fear that this mission has absolutely no chance ," Army Radio quoted Yisrael Beiteinu Chairman MK Avigdor Lieberman as saying.

He was referring to fears that Mitchell seek to pressure Israel to halt settlement construction in the West Bank.

Lieberman added: "This diagnosis is incorrect. This is simply idle chatter; there is no connection between settlers and the conflict through which we have been living for so many years."

3. So Mr Mitchells should just leave the settlements alone
well it doesn't sound like that will be his focus this time anyway. I am interested in what goes on in Egypt or who gets talked to indirectly.
The guy who said Mr Mitchell should stay out of Israel's "private business" or what ever, is that the same Yaakov Katz that writes for JPost?

6. I've been trying to figure out which is dumber, Lieberman or Nuttyahoo.
Can you imaging those two weasels running Israel? Talk about rage among the ruins. Not that Barak and Livni would be much better.

7. He is wrong, in that the settlers have made matters worse
But the conflict would be there, with or without settlers, just as it was BEFORE THERE WAS AN OCCUPATION.

Because after all, this conflict is not about the occupation of the WB and formerly Gaza, but the "occupation of all lands of greater Palestine".

Therefore, this conflict is more than just settlers, and more than just occupation.

It is and always has been about the state of Israel, a state of Jews, living in the middle east.

So, Mr. Lieberman is correct in noting that the conflict is more than just settlers.
