Rights group: Hamas tortured Gaza inmate to death
The Hamas-run police force in the Gaza Strip said on Wednesday it was investigating the death of a prisoner after a Palestinian human rights group said the inmate was tortured and beaten to death during interrogation.

The Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) said one of its researchers had seen marks on the hands and legs of the inmate, Jamil Assaf, indicating he had been tortured in jail.

Assaf was detained by police on March 9 and died in Gaza's main hospital on Tuesday. The ICHR said he was suffering from kidney failure after a beating.

Assaf's death was the second of a prisoner in a Hamas jail in Gaza this month, the ICHR added.

6. That's kinda funny. And really bigoted.
Some westerners think other cultures are incapable of independent thought or development. Like the ones who can't believe that some brownish guys crashed 4 planes with box cutters without a white guy in a suit giving them the order.

8. Or that the "brownish guys"
didn't even crash four planes.

It was really the Mossad, because no way did those Arabs bring down the Twin towers.

:sarcasm:

7. Of course I did
but it was your statement of where they did not originate, albeit actually the earliest example of a torture device that comes to mind was a large cast iron oven used in China, which is not to say the Chinese originated torture

10. Did I ever say that?
Torture and murder of prisoners are commonplace in the west and, depending on the charges (or lack therof...) even legal in some western countries.

I'm just welcoming Hamas into the fold.

9. At the risk of raising every true believer's ire,
the bible isn't history.

11. I assure you, I'm vastly more aware of it than you likely are
Not meant as an insult, just that, well, I probably know more about it.

I fail to see the relevance to my comment, though

12. Isolating Hamas is not going to improve their human rights record.
But we already knew that, didn't we?
