"Dubai has identified 15 new suspects in the assassination of a senior Hamas figure at a Dubai luxury hotel, bringing the total number of people believed involved in the death to 26, the government said on Wednesday.

Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was killed last month in his hotel room in what Dubai police have said they are near certain was an Israeli hit. They said the killers travelled to the Gulf Arab emirate on European passports.

“In addition to the previously released list of 11 suspects, Dubai Police has now identified another six suspects who include a woman who used British passports, a man and three women travelling on Irish passports, two men who used French passports, and three people with Australian passports. The Australians included a woman," the Dubai government's media office said in an emailed statement.

Dubai police said some hit squad members fled to Iran after the assassination.

The Dubai police released new security camera footage showing the suspects arriving at the local airport and in the hotel where the assassination took place."

1. "said some hit squad members fled to Iran after the assassination" ?
Uh, um, how exactly does that work? Israeli intelligence is working with Iranian intelligence? The bullshit surrounding this gets deeper and deeper.

Will there be a UN investigation into how the UAE allows its territory to be used for political assassinations, as there was (and still is) in Lebanon when Hariri was whacked allegedly by Syria in an assassination that indirectly benefited Israeli interests?

2. Is Mossad working with the Pasdaran now? YNET smokes crack.
Are we to believe this was a joint Israel-Iran hit operation against the Palestinians?

No, make that LSD mixed with a DMT chaser in the YNET newsroom watercooler.

4. At least 10 Israelis share names of new Dubai hit squad suspects
<snip>

"Dubai has identified 15 new suspects in the assassination last month of a Hamas official, and 10 of those suspects share the names of Israelis who hold dual citizenship, Haaretz has learned.

Dubai police said Wednesday the total number of people believed involved in the death stands at 26."

<snip>

"The new suspects were identified as: Daniel Marc Schnur, Gabriella Barney, Roy Allan Cannon, Stephen Keith Drake, Mark Sklur and Philip Carr, traveling on British passports; Ivy Brinton, Anna Shauna Clasby and Chester Halvey, on Irish passports; David Bernard LaPierre, Melenie Heard and Eric Rassineux, on French passports, and Bruce Joshua Daniel, Nicole Sandra McCabe and Adam Korman on Australian passports."

<snip>

"Dubai police said the suspects arrived from cities including Zurich, Paris, Rome, Milan and Hong Kong.

"This was to take the camouflage and deception to its utmost level and to guarantee the avoidance of any security supervision or observation of their movements," the statement said.

Once their part in the operation was completed, the suspects again dispersed to different parts of the world, with two suspects leaving Dubai by boat for Iran, it said.

Dubai police also released credit card details of some of the suspects. At least 13 credit cards used to book hotel rooms and pay for air travel were issued by the same small U.S. bank."

5. Australia calls in Israel envoy over forged passports in Dubai hit
Last update - 00:58 25/02/2010
The Canberra government has called in Israel's ambassador after three Australians were named as suspects in the assassination of a Hamas official at a Dubai hotel last month, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said Thursday.

"We will not be silent on this matter. It is a matter of deep concern. It really goes to the integrity and fabric of the use of state documents, which passports are, for other purposes," Rudd told Australian radio.

Dubai police say they are near certain that members of Israel's Mossad spy agency killed Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in his hotel room in January. A list of 11 people suspected in the assassination released last week by Dubai included the names of six British-born Israelis, whose names appeared on forged British passports thought to have been used by the killers.

Dubai on Wednesday identified 15 new suspects in the assassination; Haaretz has learned that 10 of them also share the names of Israelis who hold dual citizenship.

6. Rudd's fury over Mossad passport link
Updated 15 minutes ago

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has summoned the Israeli ambassador to "get to the bottom" of how suspected Mossad assassins used Australian passports to travel to Dubai to kill a top Hamas commander.

Overnight, Dubai police named 15 new suspects in the assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, who was found dead in his hotel room last month in what police have said they are almost certain was an Israeli hit.

Police say three of the suspects travelled to the emirate on Australian passports in the names of Adam Marcus Korman, Joshua Daniel Bruce and Nicole Sandra McCabe.

This morning Mr Rudd told AM that the Israeli ambassador was being summoned to meet Foreign Minister Stephen Smith to explain the latest development.

Mr Rudd said officials had been working on the case through the night and pledged the Government would "not let the matter rest" and that Australia "will not be silent on the matter".

"If Australian passports are being used or forged by any state, let alone for the purpose of assassination, this is of the deepest concern and we are getting to the bottom of this now," he said.

"We will not leave a single stone unturned."

Asked what action the Government may take against Israel, Mr Rudd replied: "Let us establish the facts first."
