Deadly Israeli raid in RafahSunday 16 November 2003
Israeli troops have shot and killed an elderly Palestinian man during a raid into the southern Gaza Strip.
Palestinian medical sources confirmed the death of 55-year-old Hasan Abu Khatla early on Sunday morning in the centre of Rafah.
He had been shot in the chest and died instantaneously.
An eight-year-old boy was also injured during the dawn raid. Two other men were arrested, but no names have yet been released.

GAZA, Nov. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli army forces raided early Sunday the town of Rafah on the border between the southern Gaza Strip and Egypt, killing one Palestinian and wounding two, Palestinian medical sources and witnesses said.
According to the medical sources, the killed Palestinian is 55 years old and a seriously wounded child is five years old.
The aim of the Israeli army operation in Rafah was to detain Bassam Abu Lebda, a Palestinian in charge of digging tunnels under ground on the border with Egypt, Israel Army Radio reported.
