Moonbats Against Israel
Edited on Wed Jul-28-10 01:33 PM by shira
It must be the summer heat but the moonbats seem to be loonier than ever when it comes to Israel and Jews.

Oliver Stone urges us to see the positive side of Hitler and Ahmadinejad, while imitating his two heroes by railing against Jewish control of the media. (To his credit, Stone has apologized for his bigoted statements.)

Doctors Without Borders suddenly erects borders when it comes to Israeli doctors who flew to the Congo to treat 50 local villagers who had been severely burned. The Israeli volunteers worked around the clock, treated the burn victims and trained local doctors to perform skin grafts, and donated tons of medical equipment. But the bigoted Doctors Without Borders refused to work with them and treated them "as though we were occupiers." This should not surprise people who have been following Doctors Without Borders over the years. Dr. Marie Pierre Allie, President of the French Branch of the organization, said that Israel's self defense actions in Gaza were actually worse than the Darfur genocide in the Sudan. Only a blind moonbat could even make such a comparison! As one critic put it well, these are doctors with borders but without scruples.

<snip>

And speaking of temperature, Clare Short, the former Secretary of State for International Development in the UK Labour Government, has declared that Israel will cause the end of the human race. No, she was not relying on the Biblical Apocalypse, but rather on the absurd claim that because the Jewish nation diverts the world's attention from the problem of global warming, it is causing a climate apocalypse. Not China, the United States or other large polluters, but tiny Israel, which is one of the most environmentally conscious nations in the world, is now being blamed for global warming by this moonbat.

1. Dershowitz again...
MSF has been down on what's going on in Gaza, but Allie did NOT say that, although to some it's probably as bad. What she actually said is that she never saw so many deaths in so little time in those other zones.

Whether or not the MSF volunteers actually dissed the Israeli team I have no idea, nor does anyone else who wasn't there. I suspect, however, that they just didn't like each other and both sides refused to give.

2. Here is her exact quote
Edited on Wed Jul-28-10 03:04 PM by oberliner
“This extreme violence is striking a trapped, imprisoned population. We are told that the population is warned before every attack, but people have nowhere to flee, nowhere to take refuge. In more than 40 years of work in conflict situations, MSF has rarely faced such levels of violence against civilian populations. Whether in Somalia, the DRC, or even Darfur, none of those wars produced so many deaths in so little time. Our goal is not to establish a hierarchy of war horrors, but to denounce the cynical way in which Israel is carrying out its military offensive, with no respect for civilians.

I assume that is the reference in question.

3. What she said is still idiotic.
Edited on Wed Jul-28-10 03:29 PM by shira
Israel's efforts during OCL to protect civilians led to a civilian to combatant kill ratio that's better than recent US, UK, and NATO efforts. The simple fact of the matter is that no matter how bad people believe Israel was during the Gaza war, no other country has worked to protect civilians more than Israel, including what many here perceive to be the more "civilized" Western militaries.

“I think – I would say that from my knowledge of the IDF and from the extent to which I have been following the current operation, I don’t think there has ever been a time in the history of warfare when any army has made more efforts to reduce civilian casualties and deaths of innocent people than the IDF is doing today in Gaza.

Richard Kemp
Former Commander of British Forces in Afghanistan

It's a complete inversion (and perversion) of reality to argue otherwise.

4. I believe I have seen numbers indicating that 500 people were dying per day on average in Darfur
I believe that was during the height of the violence in 2005.

Here's what happened in May 2010, leading up to the flotilla incident.

In May, 73 Kurds were killed by the Turks (meanwhile, there are reports of about 100 killed). In Pakistan, 765 people were slaughtered. In Afghanistan, 249. In Kashmir, 50. The list is long. Muslims are slaughtering Muslims. It’s a routine thing. Relatively speaking, the confrontation with the smallest numbers of casualties is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. 2,255 people have been killed and murdered in the focal points of this type of conflict, according to a count by Dr. Yochai Sela of Bar-Ilan University. Of them, nine were from the flotilla and another three Hamas operatives who tried to infiltrate Israel. Twenty were killed in the Russian federations. The United States killed 85 people in targeted killings. Let’s go back and clarify: we’re talking about last month. It wasn’t an especially violent month.

But who’s heard about it? The world is silent.

10. Try to stay on track Shira
The Haaretz article makes NO CLAIM THAT DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS REFUSED TO WORK WITH THE ISRAELI DELEGATION. Dershowitz lied, inflated, obscured.

In fact, the article explained that initially there was a rough start, but THEY PUT POLITICS BEHIND THEM AND GOT THE JOB DONE.

Of course there are those who would magnify to the nth degree that rough start....an argument at the breakfast table....not staying in the same room because of illness....disliking music.....that would be BIGOTRY. As you are so fond of jumping on...seeking....searching......

But Good old Dershowitz, with his wise "Truth and rationality" should be a beacon that all good people abide by.....just HAD TO INFLATE THAT ARTICLE INTO SAYING SOMETHING IT DID NOT. The MSF never refused to work with the Israeli's....and the israeli's never did all the work alone.

11. There's good reason to believe that WRT Israel, MSF is quite bigoted - right?
I agree with you that Dershowitz's article is crap in many respects. It's rather surprising. Seems to me Dershowitz needs some grad student fact-checkers to go over his articles before he releases them.

5. If you keep searching for trash....that is all you want to see
snip from above article - Nonetheless, all people of good will must keep fighting for truth and rationality, even -- perhaps especially -- when it comes to the Jewish state and the Jewish people.

Lets see if good old Dershowitz is abiding by his fight for truth and rationality.....

Oliver Stones anti-semitic words - (from article Dershowitz linked to)
snip - The 10-part documentary will address Stalin and Hitler "in context", he says. "Hitler was a Frankenstein but there was also a Dr Frankenstein. German industrialists, the Americans and the British. He had a lot of support."

He also seeks to put his atrocities in proportion: "Hitler did far more damage to the Russians than the Jewish people, 25 or 30m."

Why such a focus on the Holocaust then? "The Jewish domination of the media," he says. "There's a major lobby in the United States. They are hard workers. They stay on top of every comment, the most powerful lobby in Washington. Israel has fucked up United States foreign policy for years."

A 10 part documentary that explores the powerbrokers and moneymen that BACKED and SUPPORTED Hitler with his war conquest....and what is the title of this article.....
Oliver Stone: Hitler Treated Unfairly by Jewish-Controlled Media
And Dershowitz' "truth and rationality" regarding this bigoted note of jewish domination of the media......

snip - Oliver Stone urges us to see the positive side of Hitler and Ahmadinejad, while imitating his two heroes by railing against Jewish control of the media. (To his credit, Stone has apologized for his bigoted statements.)

Tsk, tsk tsk - Stone did not suggest that ....and Ahmadinajad was not even mentioned at all - so why throw him in there?

According to Dershowitz - Meg Ryan is supposed to issue a public statement saying she is not boycotting an Israeli film festival that she never intended on going to in the first place.

And the ever changing, morphing, spinning story of good generous israeli doctors being slammed while working in the Congo.....this story changes almost by the day......yesterday the Israeli doctors and doctors without borders were able to overcome their differences and work together in the end....and according to Dershowitz - that never happened at all - doctors without borders simply refused to work with the israeli's.

Dershowitz tries to "balance" his tirade against anti-Israel moonbats by throwing in a story of a racist Israeli rabbi who was incited for writing a racist book explaining that it was ok to kill non jews. And the very article Dershowitz uses as a link states that police released him just hours after he was arrested....after confiscating thirty copies of the book. WTF? Why should a racist be allowed to walk....

Dershowitz also brings up the clearly moonbatty statement by Clare Short....and it trully is.....BUT IT IS NOT FROM THIS SUMMER, UNLESS THIS SUMMER IS SEPTEMBER, 2007. That is the date of the article HE linked to.

So....Mr. Dershowitz sir....please try to abide by your truth and rationality claim....especially for the jewish state, and the jewish people. When you lie, obscure, and inflate - you are doing them harm.

6. I agree that Dersh's exaggerations don't help.
Edited on Wed Jul-28-10 05:14 PM by shira
As for putting a positive spin on Hitler and Stalin...

"Hitler is an easy scapegoat throughout history and it's been used cheaply," he said. Then he mentioned the S word. "Stalin has a complete other story. Not to paint him as a hero, but to tell a more factual representation. He fought the German war machine more than any person."

Then he went on to mention two M words – Chairman Mao and Joseph McCarthy, architect of the 1950s anti-communist purges in Washington, and the T word – Harry Truman's dropping of the atom bomb in 1945.

Of the many potential storms that could be brewing over his Secret History, which will be broadcast by the cable channel Showtime later this year, Hitler promises to be the most incendiary. Stone told the Television Critics Association that "we can't judge people as only 'bad' or 'good'. is the product of a series of actions. It's cause and effect. People in America don't know the connection between WWI and WWII."

The implication that Stone is seeking to put forward a good side of the German dictator hitherto not seen by Americans is, even by Stone's own accomplished record of stirring up stinks, pretty radical.

The comment inspired Stone's collaborator on his Secret History, Peter Kuznick, a history professor at the Washington-based American University, to tell the audience of television critics and, in an apparent damage-limitation exercise: "He's not saying we're going to come out with a more positive view of Hitler. But we're going to describe him as a historical phenomenon."

I simply googled stone, positive, hitler.

So you were wrong too.

8. Then you can blame Dershowitz for that
Edited on Wed Jul-28-10 05:34 PM by whosinpower
Because I used the very links HE provided. He is too friggin lazy and intellectually bankrupt to realize someone might actually click on the links he used.

In essence - his article is sensationalistic crap. And he even provided the links to prove it.

In terms of the doctors going to Congo - Oberliner was the one who noted the article had changed....and of course, good old Dersh - has to up the ante just a little.....twist it a bit more to give an impression that was favorable to his viewpoint.

More importantly, what he did lends one to ask the very credibility of everything he writes...which after clicking on his links....proves, not very credible at all.

9. I read your article
And, of course, it is no wonder why Dershowitz did not bother to link to it.....Israel wasn't mentioned once, nor was the "jewish dominated media" in that article.

snip from your article -
Stone told the Television Critics Association that "we can't judge people as only 'bad' or 'good'. is the product of a series of actions. It's cause and effect. People in America don't know the connection between WWI and WWII."

Somehow this morphs into painting a "good" side to Hitler. As per the implication written in bold.

My interpretation of what Stone is saying is that "Cause and effect actions allow a person to be bad or good".

You may interpret that to mean that Stone is trying to portray Hitler in a more positive light, but I see it differently. A person may understand why someone behaves in a certain manner - but that does not mean approve of it.

And it is true - as bad as Stalin was, he and the russians did bore the brunt of Hitler's invading armies. Truth be told, I wonder if there is any family on the planet that was not touched in some way by WW11.

Without a doubt, if this miniseries airs - it will be controversial.

13. creds to you for later realizing that Dersh is a batshit crazy liar. Listen to Stone here if you
want to know what he is actually saying with his new film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYCuOI_rYOE

Watch, listen, two or more times, or as many as it takes. There is more truth in what he tells than a year of corporate media will ever do more than hint at.

16. I do have a problem with what he said.
Although it was relatively accurate in terms of the demographics of the industry (saw some doc where the exclusion of Jews from established - WASP - capitalist operations led some to be early investors/owners/operators then when film was a new tech and movies were a cutting edge gamble. Still a pretty high representation anong the players by per capita numbers. But these are now subsidiariues of transnational corporate behemoths, and under THEIR control.

As for typing the media in general, it is also true that many of the best and most prominent, have surnames that might be Jewish in origin. But as for those who own and operate the media today, they get hired, and those who do the owning/hiring are still the WASPS. And my view is that trhose with Jewishish surnames are very prominent among my list of "the best and most trustworthy." I suspect his list would be not much different than mine.

He apologized. I agree he needed to. His words from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Stone

"Stone apologized a few days later, stating: "In trying to make a broader historical point about the range of atrocities the Germans committed against many people, I made a clumsy association about the Holocaust, for which I am sorry and I regret." He also stated that "Jews obviously do not control media or any other industry. The fact that the Holocaust is still a very important, vivid and current matter today is, in fact, a great credit to the very hard work of a broad coalition of people committed to the remembrance of this atrocity – and it was an atrocity."<33><34>

That is not true and the comment plays into a negative stereotype.

17. We can agree on that for sure.
Transnational Corporatist Monopoly Capitalism factors in religious affiliation as a subset within the "manipulability" set. They mostly see religion as a weakness to be manipulated, only some as a cause. Although there are some dumbasses in that group also.
